How essential is the DLC for Dark Souls 3? Due to Steam sale

Think of it more as its own little stand alone story, it adds some flavor to the world and id say its not that essential besides providing some top tier bosses. Id wait until the fire fades edition comes out bundled with the DLCs. oh and don't listen to Joseph anderson and play ashes first.

The DLC hasn't gone on sale yet, but the Dark Souls 2 DLC has so it probably will in the future.

Fire Fades doesn't exist for digital versions on Steam / PSN / Live, you have to get the deluxe edition instead
