TTYD. The levels were often more gimmicky, but as a result each one actually stands out. PM has a few stand out moments, but large swathes of it are pretty forgettable. TTYD also has better partners, whereas the ones in PM feel just like utilities who show up when you need them, rather than teammates who decide to help you.

Color Splash happened, on March 3rd, 2016 when the game was originally announced TTYDfags went on a huge fucking rampage cumming over the game and over hyped it as a masterpiece. This made others play or replay the game and realize like any other game out there it's not perfect, but seeing the overly-positive reception brought out a lot more negative reception.

In both Paper Mario 64 and SMRPG it is much more blatant though. TTYD at least gives an indicator when you fuck up instead of capping at unreasonable points since each jump decreases in damage

Power Bounce is capped in both games but only for certain bosses.

PM64 also has that exact indicator, it's based on the how the camera pans out when Mario bounces off an enemy. Also in PM64 your attack decreases as well.
