Hunter's Axe that you start with is pretty much the best weapon in the game. Gehrman's scythe weapon comes in a close second and that's dex/arcane.

Maybe I'm retarded but that weapon was tough to handle. Had to switch it off during Ludwig and Loragius because it made them impossible.

I played a strength/arcane build with the big sword (fuck my life, i van't remember it's name) and arcane stuff like the "tentacle box" to parry

Chikage is fun. 25 skill/50 bloodtinge. Get the lost one because in it's transformed state, its 100% bloodtinge damage. The lost version has a slot for another blood att gem.

Also Kos parasite for pure arcane build is fun.

It's in the chalice dungeons. A YouTuber called sanadsk has a guide if you have never done the chalices before. Shows you the quickest route to take so you can access any dungeon in the game.

OP here, I've got the whirligig on another playthrough and yes, its awesome, but is that pretty much the main option for str/arc? I'm leaning towards skill/arcane atm

Wheel Is strength/arc
Blades or scythe are skill/arc
Moonlight blade is quality/arc
Parasite is pure arc

If you aren't going pure scythe is best of these in my opinion
