I watched the video where he explains what happened with Machinima and what it was was that Youtube (massively) cut everyone's ad revenue and his videos stopped making money. for a long time he was getting paid more than his videos were making already, and then he (along with everyone else) got a revenue cut out of nowhere. If you chopped your LP into many many videos, your 100 video LP with 1000 views each would be the same view count wise as a long, unified LP with 100,000 views. So, when searching for a game, DSP's shit would be at the tippy top of results because of how he played YT. That's how he got big to begin with early on as one of the first famous LPers.

When Google bought YouTube and started adding seriously complicated algos that can figure out every fucking thing a viewer is doing while watching a stream (from quitting 15 seconds in, to sitting through the whole thing without even losing tab focus, to jerking off and even clocking the very moment they cum), they changed it. Now, YouTube cares more about the quality of the view, specifically how much time a user is engaged to your content. A 50 minute video that a person sits through end to end is considered amazing by their algos.

DSP knows this. He's talked about it. He is PERFECTLY AWARE of what I just said. He FULLY UNDERSTANDS how Google's algos worth on his videos. He refuses to change. He just absolutely refuses to change how he publishes his videos. As a result, his videos get fewer views, have lower search priority, and as a double-whammy, even his subscribers tend to mute alerts from him because they get 16 a day.
