I played both demos and the gameplay is okay, but I can't over how shitty it looks, and it's not like the gameplay is enough to ignore the rest.

How does an old concept not having been done recently protect a game from developer fuckups/bad design decisions?

I'm sort of interested. I never was a big Castlevania fan but I love Metroidvanias in general, so I sort of want to go back and beat all the IGA-vanias that I can and maybe purchase this once its out.
