Thinking of picking up this game, is it any good?
so I hear, but I never played it either
Yeah.
PC I hope.
If you're coming from modern bioware, know that you should pause constantly and micromagange your guys.

It good, but really long (upwards of 40 hours, took 60 on my first playthrough). It's also not as flashy as most recent RPGs.
The best aspects of it are the world building and the characters, as per most Bioware games. The story is probably the best one of modern Bioware, though that's not saying much.
Yeah, the setting seems standard Tolkien at first, but it's solid in execution.

How is the gameplay?

Clunky at best on consoles. Decent on PC. If you've played the Mass Effect trilogy, it's similar but a bit slower and more focused on abilities.
It looked dated when it launched so just imagine today. It's an ugly and jank game for sure, but the combat and lore are interesting enough once you wrap your head around them.
If you beat it, play Inquisition

It's alright. Though it can be pretty slow, just trading automatic blows while waiting on power cooldowns. Unless you're playing as a mage repeatedly nuking everyone.
It gets the job done, but I wouldn't say it's the real selling point honestly.

You know, for all its blatant flaws I'd probably recommend DA2 before Inquisition.
Origins is still the best by far though.

What about Inquisition?

Combat's quicker and more responsive, but the power selection feels more water down.
The main story has its moments, but the bulk of the side-content boils down to forgettable fetch quests in large pretty environments.

It's MMO combat, which is whatever.
But it's also poorly written, which for Bioware is unforgivable.
