Man of refined tastes.
It's absolutely amazing for everything a controller can do except 2d platformers, twinstick, and fightan and a shitload of what the keyboard can do.
Trackpads are god tier, will detect your finger accurately through an article of clothing, most versatile input added to a controller ever. Gyro and trackpad is one of the best aiming solutions. Haptics feel amazing and make the trackpads really accurate. Backpaddles are a great addition. Mode shifting. All of this customizable and more, it's the insanely customizable

I fucking hate Valve but damn they make a good controller. I hate that you have to run everything through Steam though.

OP how well does WiiU work on PC? How easy is it to set up? What do I have to do? My 360 pad is giving outish (gross because I bought it used, came smelling like cigarette smoke and I've had it for well over 5 years now and one stick cracked a bit) and I want a twinstick alternative with a better dpad.
>>
>>381508349
With the mayflash adapter hold start and b for 3 seconds.
If you're using a regular bluetooth adapter, x360ce should work, maybe you're configuring the wrong pad.

>>
>>381508797
It's gotten a bit better though. You don't need to run Big Picture Mode anymore.

But the fact that you can't do anything that'd remotely require any games that'd require a dpad is such fucking ass

Most games coming out don't use the dpad for movement. And honestly the big 3 this gen all have shit dpads. If you care that much about the dpad you should probably have a controller that's specifically chosen for it's dpad.

I'd love to be able to exchange a stick and dpad on a Steam Controller 2 but fuck everyone who wants to mess with the touchpads so that they can play Mario Bros for the NES on the Steam controller and screw everyone elses layout in pretty much every PC game. If it comes down to it i'd prefer no Dpad

I bought one of these the other day and it's absolute garbage. The reason I wanted a controller was primarily to play console ports, and secondarily to utilise the touted benefit of the steam dohickey facilitating controller-based play of normally KBM-only titles.

HOWEVER the shitty touchpad in place of a right control stick makes fine camera movements somehow even clunkier than using a stick. Tried playing Nier and it was impossible, and RE5 was made more difficulty due to the fact you can't control the camera and use face buttons at the same time. And atrocious ergonomics aside, the thing is also made of very flimsy plastic.
More annoying, I paid RRP and a week later its on sale for 30% off.

Stay the fuck away. It's a piece of absolute, unsalvageable shit.

>>381510096
The DS4's D-pad is passable.
>>
>>381510551
90% of modern 2d platformers have decent or good stick support, if you care enough about dpads to not be capable of using a stick you should care enough to get a controller with the main intent of getting a good dpad
>>
360 wired controller. I'm really satisfied with it. The wireless one uses a different dpad design therefore has issues out of the ass, but the wired version's dpad is almost perfect. I love M$ controllers' size and dpad/left analog positions. I can easily move and still use the dpad at the same time. Got 800 hours out of it before one crucial button failed. It's a shame because the rest of the buttons and analogs are still healthy as fuck. I hope it goes away after a few days.

For the time being I switched to a bone controller since I always wanted to try it out. I got literally cucked and bought from FUCKING GAMESTOP for 20 dollarydoos more than I should. Aside from the dpad being noticeably lower it feels pretty comfy so far
>>
>>381505451
It is, it's poorly designed and you can't use it properly without steam open in the background, this controller sucks ass, I was forced to use it for months last year and it was the most painful thing in my life.

>>
>>381512209
I've tried the community configurations.
Maybe if you have very small hands and only play FPS it works fine as a controller, but for anything that requires precise 3D movement its fundamentally terrible; and for me, with my colossal phalanges, I can't use the face buttons properly- holding the thing neutrally ABXY rest between my thumb's saddle joint and the knuckle, I have to use a weird claw grip and press them with my thumptip as opposed to any other controller where I can use the ball of my thumb because the buttons aren't cramped into some tiny recess. Its basically toblerone levels of "ow fuck, my hands!".
>>
Xbox 360 until the recent controller-related Steam update which fucked it in a lot of games (used to be that I could have the controller plugged in 24/7 and use KB+M for games that benefit from KB+M but now even having a controller plugged in defaults a lot of games to controller mode) so now I switched to my Xbox One controller.

The difference being that the XBO controller can be unplugged from the controller end while 360 can only be unplugged from the PC end, so it's easier to unplug for games that got fucked by the update.
>>
If I buy a Switch Pro controller and a Bluetooth dongle for it, will it work with Xinput games? Or will I have to use Xpadder for stuff besides emulation?

>>381511112
Really? I thought the dpad was literally the only good thing about the Logitech pad. It feels like a modern Saturn dpad but even more tactile

The rest of the controller sure is shit, though. The rubberized backing has gone all sticky and melty on me

But it is unironically one of my favorite dpads, I can just feel every direction being pressed and released
>>
>>381511732
Am I the only one who disagrees?

Ive always found Dualshock dpads to be really mushy feeling. Like, the first press is fine, but if you roll it doing fighting game motions you dont really feel any of the other directions being engaged and released.

Sure it's no 360 dpad but I can't say I really like it
>>
Guys seriously please

I need a controller with the perfect D-Pad for platformers. I've been looking and looking and I've come close, but never made it

The 360 controller is perfect except for the garbage D-Pad
The iBuffalo SNES controller is perfect except it isn't a full gamepad so doesn't work with many modern platformers
The Logitech F310 has a nice feeling D-Pad but it's too easy to accidentally hit up as well as right and I think it's breaking on me

I need the PERFECT pad for flawless and intricate movement
>>
>>381510187
>The reason I wanted a controller was primarily to play console ports
>so I bought controller made specifically to replace mouse input
This is your own fuckup anon

The purpose of the touchpad is to provide the best compromise for mouse control on the couch. Enabling games such as RTSes or Cities Skylines or whatever to be a workable on a gamepad. Not for replacing the analog stick.
>>
>>381510096
I dont give a shit about games coming out when there's a whole library of Saturn shmups that feel like ass on an analog stick

>inb4 just use a different gamepad
Fuck you, if it had a nice dpad it would be great. Everyone has their own big feature they won't go without. Who are you to say your touchpad autism is any more or less important than our dpad autism?

Steam controller is supposed to be about customization and versatility, so removing the dpad outright would be dumb

It looks so soft and inviting
>>
>>381522342
Use DS4Windows and be sure to click "Hide DS4 Controller". Bam, works flawlessly.

>>381522432
Vanilla DS4 support is still pretty iffy on Steam last time I bothered checking.
>>
>>381512062
Mayflash makes/made a 2 port ps2 to USB adapter, think they made a 4 port version too.
>>
>>381505038
Switch controller

I used to use wii u pro, great controller
>>
>>381522638
Not that guy, but can confirm, Saturn controller is comfy as fuck.
>>
>>381517069
Only use it for PSOBB but it's the only real option for that game as kb+m is a huge shit sandwich.
>>
>>381505038
Wii U Pro is generally the best unless I need analog triggers, then I use my DS4
I already owned both anyway so using them is kind of a no brainer.

I've tried an Xbone controller but the build quality is unbelievably shit.

Use Scp Toolkit. By far the best wrapper.
>>
>>381522496
SCPtoolkit is basically a hacked version to let you use it without the bullshit.
>>
Better question, which controller is best for phones
>>
>>381523446
reviews say this is good.
>>381507463
Even has a detachable mount for the phone on the controller itself.

Gets the job done. Uses Razer's gaming mouse switches for the face buttons so they're super responsive. Sticks feel a little weird but you get used to them.

Might look into the newer xbone model if it has better sticks.

nothing like lighting up the entire room with the controllers lighting

so is the general consensus that the wired xbox 360 controller is best? they're $30 on amazon and it seems that since it's all microsoft it should work without a problem, right?
>>
>>381522439
Lame.
I might grab one anyway though since ill probably end up buying myself a switch for Christmas and it'll be handy to have on hand.

Thanks.
>>
>>381505590
I'm buying a Switch next month (If I can get a hold of one) and thinking of buying the pro controller to double as a PC controller. Any anons use the Switch pro controller? Is it any good for PC?

soon. using a 360 at the moment
>>
>>381524201
scratch that, after a cursory google it seems the ps4 controller is considered the best but takes some software to have it work
>>
>>381524460
That controller isn't all that great, even for retro shit.
>>
>>381514696
seconding this, the only method i know involves using vjoy and x360ce which i couldnt get to work properly, (game wouldnt recognize my controller)
>>
>>381508797
2D platformers actually work alright on it, just remove the up and down binds from the left trackpad and put them basically anywhere else because there are enough buttons on the controller to more than accommodate most 2D platformers.
Fightan could work as well but would likely mean maintaining a huge amount of profiles I suppose since more intricate D-Pad motions are needed and they're different for each character.
The customization is impacted negatively by the interface being so awful though, also no support for multiple mode shifts or combination button presses without starting ludicrous quantities of intricate controller profiles.

>>381510187
Use Gyro controls plus right trackpad to make aiming better.
Use facebuttons for actions you seldom have use for and use all 8 (counting the dual stage triggers as 2) rear buttons as much as possible for the actions you frequently use as well as the click action of the trackpads for anything where that isn't awkward to do.
>>
>>381505038
been using my PS4 controller for the most part. Bought a cheap, knock off 360 controller after my legit one shit the bed, but it's pretty shit, some games are unplayable with.
>>
>>381512062
I have one, though I'm just plugging in DS4 directly now. Mine was ordered from EBAY (so china) in a 2 pack. was Plug and play.
>>
>>381510187
>makes fine camera movements somehow even clunkier than using a stick
There are like a dozen settings you need to adjust to fit you personal taste.

I use mouse-joystick with edge scrolling turned pretty far up.
>>
Anyone know how to disable the gyro from registering inputs on a DualShock 4? its literally the only reason why I can't play retrogames with it

>No analog triggers
>Insanely overpriced because of the shitty gimmicks added into it which won't ever be used in any "aaa" tier game because the devs don't care.
Yeah no.
>>
Best stick for fightan on both PS4 and PC?
>>
>>381524460
Wanted one of these so bad. I got a Famicom colored one.

It's actually not very comfortable and the buttons aren't as responsive as I'd hope for. I prefer other controllers in the price range, but it's definitely not the worst.

You literally cannot use this home button for a good purpose no matter what you do.

I REALLY want it as a button to switch profiles but it just will not happen.

That and the HD Rumble.
I actually think the HD rumble feature is good but who fucking cares, they're using this as an excuse to increase the price of their shit.
>>
>>381513215
make sure to get a mayflash adapter and not a regular one
setting it up on a regular adapter is like trying to cure an autistic child of autism
>>

this, been using it for 10 years, no issues.
