It might feel a little slow at first and CQC might seem overbearing, but keep with it and you'll uncover some seriously whacked out shit going on behind the scenes and the gameplay gets ridiculously good when you're used to how everything operates.

Everyone in this thread who said yes or that mgs is good is a fucking underaged retard with rose tinted goggles. Metal Gear has never been good game play or story wise to anyone with a half competent mind.

So how do you get this on the PC? I'd rather not do the PS2 emulated version, as it seems too complicated.

Buy a PS2. Mod said PS2. Alternatively, buy a modded PS2. PS2 emulation is still janky dogshit which is a serious fucking shame. There are so many games that have so many horrible errors that it makes you wonder if they actually improved on it at all over the years.

the first three MGS games are all designed to be largely stand alone from the series at large. you will miss details and some dialogue will go over your head, but you can generally understand it just fine because most of the actual story is introduced and wrapped up.

It's one of the big reasons the more recent MGS games are generally consdered to be not as good, they tied themselves too heavily into decades of lore between multiple console generations.
