I put about 30 hours into completing all of the story mode of the very first game, and by the time I was about to start the next, I thought to myself, "actually, this isn't worth it at all." These were the purchases today. Normally wouldn't have gone for the LOTR one, but the price and good reviews got me. Monpiece looked like animu shenanigans and it was cheap. Golf It, because fucking Wildcat and ChilledChaos. Age of Barbarian just looks fun as fuck and totally self-aware Conan bullshit. And Star Wars because Star Wars.

Now I'm just thinking on what else to get off the wishlist. Both Poker Night at the Inventory games are $1, but I could watch the funny shit on youtube for free. LOTR Lego is $5 which could be fun to fuck with. Black Desert Online is $8, but I'm hesitant to get into another MMO. Transformers Fall of Cybertron looks fun and at $9.99 it's way off normal price. Sims 3 is $5 and so are all the expansions, but I haven't played one of those since 2 came out so no idea what it's like now.

Any advice?

I've played all 3. The 1st and 3rd are the best. It's not too hard to get into, certainly nothing on the level of paradox games where you need to read the wiki for an hour before jumping into the game.

It gets pretty addictive once you got the mechanics down, but like every other historical strategy games, there's just not enough challenge once you start to snowball. I'd definitely recommend buying it at the sale price, but make sure you realize that it's a game more about war strategy than battle tactics.

FFX is great. Steam version has remastered models that many people find to be worse.

Just go to the menu and change the music from remastered to classic, and you'll be just fine. Trust me, if you're not a returning player, you're not going to be bothered at all by the models. They're not THAT bad, and the ones people post to scare you in threads are exaggerated in-development version that were later canned.

The issues with the steam version of FFX are only visible to people who have played the original. The updated character models are weird, and some of the remixed songs are bad (which you can change anyway). Don't worry: it's still a fantastic game with a moving story and a couple hundred hours worth of content should you decide to go for it. I play almost nothing but JRPGs, and I have to say that FFX's battle system stands out as one of my top 5 favorites.
