Games with small but loyal followings generally aren't able to influence companies or put forth the money or talent needed for private servers. Plus, CoH was a niche game in a fairly niche genre, both in terms of gameplay and setting. Too many factors colluding against it, sadly.

Hell, it doesn't even have to come back, I want a game that does its combat and its archetype system, how has nothing come remotely close?

Boy I sure do fucking miss my merc/trap MM. Loved masterminds. Fucking loved that game, and what sucks is that I haven't found a single thing that even comes close to hitting that same note. Champions is dick, same with DCUO.

I just wish all of the "Plan Z" projects would've fucking consolidated their efforts. One dev group, one kickstarter, so efforts and funds weren't spread across, what, 5 different games? Which we'll likely never actually see? I get that people probably butted heads a bit, and some people wanted to make CoX clones and others "inspired by" projects, but jesus christ.
