Honestly, the closest thing I can point you to is the OP of the blazblue general. There's usually a discord link to get you started in finding players.
The general idea seems to be that the series is slowing down a bit, but it's not slipped into the pitfalls other certain long running games have yet, nor has it gotten as bad as calamity trigger again.

Because the original version of blazblue was extremely, almost legendarily bad despite also having an insane amount of hype behind it.

The later games were pretty dumb too, and the series has a way different/more annoying lore/single player mode than guilty gear, but it's really calamity trigger having so much backlash against it that made people write off the entire series for life.

the system mechanics and controls are heavily different in large and subtle ways (you get meter just for running towards someone in GG, but not in BB)

GG is a bit faster (compare the frame data on ragna and sol, despite having very similar moves ragnas stuff is alll a bit slower)

BB is more combo heavy, or at the very least they're longer.

BB characters are designed differently from GG characters on a pretty fundamental level because of the drive system, lots of them have a gameplan that boils down to "use your drive and win"

If you want Guilty Gear there's Accent Core Plus R, which is the final revision of X (which is the one before Xrd, the current game), and Revelator 2, which is the newest version of Xrd. If you're buying Xrd on Steam, there's an all in one bundle with Revelator, Rev2 and the DLC characters, without the rest of the DLC that's basically customs and system voices.
There's also Blazblue Centralfiction, which is basically the one to get, as it's the last one and there is no Extend edition coming out. Last time I checked the bundle with all the games is even cheaper than CF by itself.

I played BB for the first few iterations. The last one I played was when Azreal was introduced, and maybe one update after. All the characters since them have had absolute garbage. Garbage designs started with Platinum, but they just kept getting worse and worse. Everyone new has been so generic and uninspired looking, even more so than before.

GG has more western credibility for some reasons. First of all, it's a legacy franchise that's had a place in the FGC for really long. Second of all, BB had a really hard time in its first release. CT was godawful in terms of gameplay, making its status as "spiritual successor to GG" not really stand up all that well. It improved in CS, but it was still pretty much a shallow GG clone at that point.
In CP, they decided to just say fuck it and give the game its own identity, and it paid off. Now the gameplay is better than ever, and it has enough unique system mechanics that it plays extremely differently from GG. I wrote up a comparison between the two if you want to check it out.

I don't really play GG anymore, when I did I mained Slayer. The game isn't all that fun to me, but I can still see why people like it. BB is currently my favorite game. It's not flawless by any means, but there's no other game that's as satisfying to both play and practice in. I main Mu-12.

The balance was tremendously bad, as in, you could realistically only play 3 characters if you wanted to play competitively at all. People complain about balance nowadays too, but those people really didn't experience shit like CT. The gameplay was also both slow and combo-heavy, making games pretty long. There were mechanics that just seemed archaic that got changed in later versions as well.
The reason it was so hyped was because GG had been dead forever and seemed like it had no chance of coming back, and it was the 10th anniversiary for the franchise. BB was originally meant to be a successor to it, but over time it became more popular than GG. However, at release, those who liked GG really had good reasons for not wanting to accept BB.

GG is pretty easy to get into mainly because of being pretty "standard" in its approach. BB can be alot more wild even at lower level of play, but I don't think that's really a problem. It's around mid to high-level where you end up getting fucked if you don't have matchup knowledge, before that you can get away just by practicing your own character and focusing on that. GG has a better training mode if you haven't played fighting games before, but BB challenge mode personally I find better since the combos are more categorized by difficulty, so it gives you a good point to start rather than just trying out the optimal stuff.
If you want to try BB, then do it. No fighting game is "super easy", especially not BB or GG (relative to other fighting games). If you find BB more appealing, then you should get that.

Guilty Gear's dub is slightly less shit than BlazBlue's.

True, but Guilty Gear had a legit reason for that. They said that Revelator was receiving on-going updates and that they didn't want to dub it unless it was completely finished. BlazBlue stopped getting dubbed simply because they didn't want to, in order to save money. People wanted both dubs, but Aksys was genuinely surprised that people were upset over Rev not getting a dub, so they left the option on the table for a later release.

i love both. i just play blazblue on pc though because guilty gears business model is retarded.

CT has some legitimately stupid stupid stupid mechanics to it. Besides for it being very slow some fabulously annoying things about it includes Jin's ice. Back then you had to shake the stick in order to get out of Jins eyes quickly. The problem is that there were times where the ice would break while you were pressing forward, making you in capable of blocking, and leaving you open to resets which ended with you stuck in ice yet again.

The next thing is Arakune. You think he's bad now? Back then there was no curse build up. If he touched you with drive you were cursed and that was just it. Some attacks could even curse you on block. And the bugs were different too although I think the bugs now are worse than the bugs then.

Now let's talk about Rachel and guard Libra. Now back then there was a kind of tug of war between the attacker and the defender. If you block for too long the guard libra would move on your side until your guard gauge ran out and your guard was broken. Which leads me to Rachel. Rachel's wind was constantly regenerating and George had no recharge time, which meant that she could keep pressuring non-stop. You'd sit there and block until Rachel broke your guard, she'd get her damaged, you'd be forced to block George, and then the cycle would start again. She was second only to Nu 13 because then characters didn't really have the means to get around her projectiles. So no one could catch her. Tager versus Nu was one of the saddest most miserable matchups in fighting games.

Oh and let's not forget how bursting put you in danger status and that the lower your barrier was the longer it took for the birds to actually come out making it easier to bait. And that the more you needed Burst the less effective it was.

Over time ASW try to fix these problems but as time passed people stop caring. At least until Chrono phantasma but then you have the problem of the bad character designs

Susanoo is sad. If you like him then play him but there's a reason why he's considered one of the worst characters in the game. Susanoo have to spend the entire first half of the match building up to be a good character. Meanwhile other characters start out good and stay good if not get better. Susanoo basically has to fight against himself and the opponent.

How do I get consistent with Baiken's loops? Almost everytime it drops before I can do the instant air dash.

Am I correct in assuming that a lot of the low tier BB character are low tier because their tools and moveset design itself is weak since BB is very character specific? I've heard Bullet suffers from this. Also can someone explain why Kagura is apparently so bad?

That's the idea. A lot of characters fall into either their ungodly strong or crippled. Carl is strong by Design. Yes Carl has stumpy limbs and no real reversal but he also has a moving wall that can hit you. Unless you break Nirvana's kneecaps Carl is always going to be a threat. Same thing with litchi. Litchi either has quarter screen normals or has her staff which not only improves her Mobility but can also reach out and hit you or protect her. She's a good character because her design gives her lots of options. Compare her to someone like Bullet. Bullet is a strike grappler and has a homing dash but she's vulnerable whenever she uses those things. She also has depressingly short range and has to build up towards being semi dangerous. It's always a uphill battle for Bullet unless ASW gives her some crazy tool that no one would be able to deal with. Both Carl and Litchi have burst safe strings and tech roll coverage. Bullet just has to make hard reads and if she reads wrong either she has to climb the mountain to getting her offense again or she dies.

Just practice a bit everyday. After a while, you will see yourself improve and it comes naturally. Don't grind one thing for hours though. Sometimes if i drop one thing too much while training, i switch to doing something else then go back to it to reset myself.

I feel like Baiken has a lot of tools and can be annoying to fight again. Maybe she isn't that bad as other claims. The only main weakness is her being squishy.

It feels difficult approaching her with her tatami gaeshi and guard cancel while she always can get a jump on you with her jump in tatami gaeshi that is very difficult to beat and her dash in that auto guard. Her guard cancel is also good on countering certain pressure and always a threat. I play Ky and a baiken who train to consistently guard cancel 2nd hit of Ky's 6H is extremely annoying
