Something tells me it won't get that much of a score. Either due to people complaining about empty-looking worlds/levels (when you make worlds awfully big, they often get called out on this, Yooka-Laylee was a target of this IIRC) or bad execution of ideas. Or something more out of reach like "Mario losing its own identity" or "Yeah, it's Odyssey, but it still doesn't come close to Mario 64, which did so much more with so much less" from those who are deep in nostalgia. I'm not against the game, mind you, I'm just trying to come up with a realistic guess towards the future, which may or may not happen.

Dunno, it depends on how Nintendo pulls it off. As of now, it definitely managed to impress me, but at the same time, I hope the game doesn't fall short on the premise it's trying to deliver.

Mario World would be my "pinnacle" back 20 years ago. What makes Odyssey "deserving" when my viewpoint of a "perfect" Mario game has been reached with that game.

There cannot be a "pinnacle" for anything because expectations for everyone towards something always change. And this should make it obvious that games today compared to the past would never, EVER get a perfect score. Too many people with too high of expectations.
