I enjoyed the single player of all of them up to Black Ops 2, except for CoD 3 and MW3, both of which were pretty mediocre in my opinion.

Gotta say I was impressed with the campaign. I played it a few years back for no real reason. I really like how you were a soldier among many, that named soldiers bit the dust around you and could contribute to the battle. It felt like you were a piece among many, not the immortal squad -until the end- bullshit re-hash of the other episodes.

Being a superhero is one of the biggest flaws of games like CoD and Battlefield. I enjoyed a lot the first games of both those series back then but they deviated so much from what they were that I don't care much nowadays. I remember finding CoD 2 photo-realistic and the health regen to be innovative when it was released. An old man watched me play the game at the shop and commented on how it looked real. I got the distinct feeling this guy saw some shit in his days.

I say Black Ops 2, one of the best FPS campaigns out there IMO.

The game let you make choices that alter the story, and provides unique endings that are pretty varied.

I didn't like how AW had all these interesting toys like that one grappling hook that allowed you to zip around that one big plaza, but then you were only allowed to use them for a very limited moment. If the whole game had been as mobile as it was there, it would have been great.

Also, the ending was a total joke with that pointless "but war was still far from over" monologue. Felt like a total unjustified sequel hook considering how totally you wrecked the enemy HQ and their leadership.
