All 2d metroids are short. You can almost completely ignore the handholding if you want to. Going for speedruns you see there are a lot of hidden paths and ways around letting you sequence break or do things non linearly, while still being in an intentional non-glitchy fashion.

I agree with OP for once. Zero Mission was mostly boring, handholdy, with uninspired upgrades and didn't really add anything new to the series, and to top it off, the entire suitless/post-suitless part of the game was a fucking joke. The Mecha Ridley final encounter was fanfic tier. Zero Mission fags are on par with Other M fags.
