Those aren't models, those are sprites. The reason DT took three years to develop was because they did sprites for everything and that's also the reason they made two other budget games with the sprites/engine; they want to recoop the loses from a three year development cycle.

The new doesn't offend me, but the old one is much nicer, I really think Mario lost something when Nintendo moved to a consistent art style and while the remake isn't totally in-line with the standardized Mario, it still lacks the charm of the original.

It's a remaster, considering that the visuals are going to be one of the only things that sets it a apart from a 10+ year old game that I already own I'd say they're pretty important. If the visuals are worse and the minions side-story doesn't look all that appealing then what other reasons are there for me to buy this game and not just stick with the superior version I already paid for?
