There's no doubt the Switch is way more successful than the Wii U. The Wii U sales would have been horrible if it had been released in March. The Switch sales are about the same as the PS4(they would be higher than the PS4 if they produced more). This has been going on for 3 months now. It shows no sign of slowing down. The price on eBay has remained pretty consistent. for the last 2 months. Demand is not dropping. Once the Switch has an install base of 15 million units(which won't take long), it would be silly for developers not to release multi-platform games on the Switch as well, especially since they release them on the PC even though the PC games underperform the poorly selling Xbone.

I got a Switch because it offers stuff that a gaming PC and a PS4 Pro doesn't: portability, motion controls, a heavy emphasis on playing with friends, the ability to play with two people anywhere, and Nintendo exclusives. For most normal people, $300 isn't a lot of money, but for an autistic NEET it isn't.

My coworkers are mostly normies, people who bought a Wii and DS and played it with their children, but have now gone over to cell phones. I've played it in 2-player mode in the break room with them. Puyo puyo Tetris and Mario Kart are big hits with them. They're very interested in the system but are holding off on buying it until they can find one. And many are of course waiting for Christmas to get it for their children as well.

I don't think anyone knew that Nintendo would be getting buttfucked by Apple for parts for the foreseeable future if they can't figure something out the lack of supply is eventually going to fuck over the demand especially when the inevitable dry spell of games hits when nintendo has Mario and Zelda out and you know the next ones are years away anyway, of the supply issues still exist into the holidays and they lose out on sales because of it and the hype train from Mario is lost because of it I actually think people will need to consider the hype on Switch might just flat line, there's probably people who were hyped for nes classic who couldn't get one who also now can't get a switch who are probably just annoyed at nintendo lol

2.5 million units sold during an off period in the year for games (post Holidays until Summer is always a slump) is pretty damn good. Just imagine how the holidays will be once Mario Odyssey hits.

That all being said, I think Nintendo's main mistake with the Switch so far is frontloading all of its landmark titles within the first year. Outside of Metroid Prime 4 (if it's not delayed) and Kirby (if it's also not delayed/cancelled), we don't have much to look forward to for 2018.

I get they were trying to fix the drought that was the first year of the Wii U, but they're overcompensating a little too much. As such, I can see the console losing its appeal if there's not many shiny new games to entertain the kids getting one over the holidays.

After being really into Battlefront and Battlefront II On the PS2, my brother got Battlefront for his PS4 almost on launch day -he went into a Best Buy to get something and decided to buy it.

It was the first time I saw him really disappointed with a game. And he loves shooters to death. After playing with it four times, it just gathered dust until he traded it at a local game shop for 20 bucks and swore never to give a dime to the battlefront series again.

So... I couldn't care less if it came to switch or not.
