I just started playing with a controller and I find it funny how the most difficult thing to do isn't combat, but navigating the HUD. I thought my DPS would decrease by a lot but it didn't. But navigating the menus and all of that is such a clusterfuck.

Has anyone even soloed the floor 180 boss? I've seen a sped up video of a healer taking forever to whittle down the last few percent in a two man group, but is it reasonable to finish the boss without timing out while soloing? I guess the removal of cleric stance might make that feasible since you don't have to commit two GCDs every time you want to do damage and the sustaining potion might help? The amount of enemies you have to kill past 150 and the amount of HP they have is pretty steep though, so I'd imagine you have to get pretty licky with pomanders.

Menus are all muscle memory. They're actually more responsive with a controller, because an action counts as soon as the button is depressed, and you can handle prompts/popups without moving the cursor. Also for some reason there's a stutter in the gear preview when you're using a mouse as opposed to the right stick to rotate the model

Really? I have almost never used the aggro combo once in the expansion and I've MT both extremes already.

Shield throw while in shield stance is pretty much all you need to have aggro the entire fight now. Add on top of it circle of scorn and you good to go. I don't use rage of halone at all on bosses, just royal authority and goring blade.

For aoe fights its a bit harder but still just doing 1 flash or circle of scorn every 2 total eclipse is enough

How to aoe as SAM? Do I put the two personal buffs up first or just go straight for the aoe skills? Do I blow kenki on Kyuten?

Since you're a MNK the defense doesn't matter, go with the 255 one.

For future reference, any gear with a white name/icon is craftable, and craftable gear that isn't high quality (including the stuff bought from vendors) is actually about 5-10 ilvls weaker than its stated ilvl.

Rdm nerfs when
Too much damage too fast, they're constantly pulling aggro and that's with most of the shitters not even doing a correct rotation

Yes, SCHs were OP. Their fairy could basically solo heal, turning SCHs into a full-time DPS. Bane gave them ridiculous AoE potential far exceeding any other healer. Their DPS skills were simplified but buffs in other areas mean their single-target DPS is about the same. Aetherflow gave them an effectively unlimited supply of MP.

SCHs are complaining because they have been brought in line after having been OP for so long.

When you get to 61, you get Impusive Appraisal 2. It will add more of a percentage to the Discerning Eye Proc chance. I'm sure its a shity way to do it, but I usually do Impuslive Appraise 2>(if proc normal rotation)/(no proc Impulsive Apprasial 2 again then Methodical) with the buffs up and that is usually enough for me to have 450 or so.

SAM's problem in PotD isn't even the lack of kenki mastery II, it's is the fact that enemies have dogshit HP and SAM is all about setting up your stuff. Sometimes shit dies before you even finish your iaijutsu cast, and if you can't maintain shifu you are basically a NIN that can't maintain huton.

The dumbest part is that there was NO reason to end up making her into Lyse. The real Yda died before 1.0 so we never met her, all the Scions knew that Lyse was faking it anyway, and Yda doesn't even come up in a significant way in the story, Lyse just mentions her a few times in some dialogue.

They could have easily just ditched the whole dead sibling shit and just have Yda remain as Yda and NOTHING would have changed. I'm convinced the only reason they did it was to avoid revealing who the character in the Stormblood trailer was, since it would have been obvious if she had had the neck tattoo.

I don't mind that they confine the rotation just to the form-based skills, but there's absolutely nothing outside of that except mashing oGCDs as they come off cooldown. Chakra procs are out of our control, and the only thing they are used for is another damage oGCD, so it really adds nothing.

I suspect they see the "challenge" of MNK coming from its positionals and learning the intended combo cycles, but both those things are really easy to master. After that and oGCDs, all that's really left is knowing how to manage downtime.

If chakras were something we actually had to manage, like if we could use them to buff our DPS somehow in a way that wasn't just a free attack, that would be enough.

Tank busters currently do hit pretty hard. Snake whore does 30k dmg with her tank buster as a normal hit and she uses it quite often. My strategy to deal with that was to start casting clemency right after her so I could be healed up immediately.

It's already better than Heavensward just because there is no more PS3 support. Yanxia is fucking huge and there is no doubt that PS3 would crash if it tried to load that place.

However the combat changes are a hit and miss. It's great for some jobs mainly bard/machinist/samurai/paladin.But it feels like shit for others like warrior/scholar/dragoon.
