The way weapon randomization works is pretty dumb too, you never find anything really unique, just slight incremental upgrades

There's a lot of RNG involved that'll fuck you up pretty hard in the beginning. That being said, you'll learn to play around it and make most of the RNG negligible.
I honestly can't think of a time I felt the RNG ever treated me unfairly once I got to the midtier dungeons, when I died it usually happened due to either bad preperation or bad decision making on my part.

Xcom 2 is dope. Some of the expansions are very average. Gets Shens last wish or w/e it's called if you like MEHCS. The new expansion coming in August looks really good, if it's as good as shown it could be as good as the xcom1 expansion.

Total war warhamer is also a great part of the total war series, simplified, but great combat and varied factions. New game coming out in the end of the year. A tad on the expensive side, but plenty of sales coming.

Factorio is also fucking super in depth and great for people with autism. Can really do lots of interesting little things.

Hitman First Season is currently 66% off.

How good is X-COM2 compared to X-COM? It feels like they've added too many bells, whistles and scifi elements in it for my liking. Stuff like using energy swords is a huge turnoff for me.

Energy swords aren't really a thing until the expansion, and even then as far as I can tell they're locked to that one particular class. It's a really enjoyable game since I've got nearly 400 hours in it and haven't even beaten the campaign yet. Sci-fi elements aren't that strong in my opinion, but some might think otherwise I dunno. Either way I'd recommend the game if you enjoyed EU/EW
