Hell originally the Zabi family didn't even know what their dad and girheen did. Kyclia suspected or may have known after the fact. But Garma and Dozle never did.

Zeon just comes off cooler and more heroic then the Feddies. They're soldiers are professionals for the most part. Cool older guys rounding out younger more naive soldiers. They have amazing Mecha designs and they fight for freedom. At least that's what the rank and file believe.

There's villainous Zeon guys but it's contrasted by noble people. For every Mqcuive and Ginhees there's Ramba Rall the Black tri stars, the guy in he four in 08th Ms team and the infantry colonel from the same one.

Where the federation you just have a whole bunch of corrupt cunts or shitty kids.

Pretty much. Both factions have legit points for independence and on whole their cause is suprisiningly just. They look cooler have cooler and more inspiring interesting characters and come off as just the better faction. Shit in Killzone I'm not even sure you can claim what could be claimed about Zeon. They never really did anything terribly wrong until the end of 3. And that wasn't even the helghast government. But a radical industrial robber baron going crazy and wrestling control of the government with his private army.
