You get unable to finish games or commit to anything? I can't do it anymore at 31.
>>
Well, ideally it's because you have other shit to do and responsibilities. Perhaps interests change.

More likely in your case, its a matter of over-exposure. You've likely been doing this shit for over 2 decades.

Real life responsibilities and relationships start becoming more important than 100 percenting games or spending an entire day or more barreling through a single player narrative.

and if you do get into it, you'll put the game down to do some other stuff and then gradually lose interest until you don't have the motivation to finish what you started.

it's natural anon.
>>
That doesn't happen to
>(You)

It only happened to your faggot ass. I'm 36, married, a professional, and I finish my goddamn games, because I know how to manage my fucking time.

Irrelevant to someone who posts on /v/
>>
Sounds like depression.
>>
Probably because, by and large, games are shittier than they used to be and mostly aren't worth finishing.

This, also the novel gleam of your first decade's worth of games has long since faded to nostalgia-levels you'll rarely ever approach in equal happiness.

Video games aren't fun to me anymore. They were my only hobby for so long and now I can't play for more than 30 minutes before I'm sick of it.

Sounds like a personal problem. Or you're just addicted to browshing four-chums instead of playing vidya.

I mean, there's plenty of shit I don't PLATINUM CHEEVE, but cheevios generally fall between easy and autistic bullshit so when I'm done with a game i'm done I don't go around my ass to "craft 50000000 widgets" or "beat game on highest Artificial Difficulty mode"
>>
On average, how many games do you guys play to completion in a year?
>>
>>381397552
>still using 4chan when you're almost fucking 40

What has to go wrong in someone's life that they end up like this? That's honestly more pathetic than the fact that you still play video games at your age.

Jesus Christ, I'm dropping games and this shit website the moment I turn 25
>>
>>381398374

YOU'RE HERE FOREVER
>>
Interests change. I have a house, job, family shit and I enjoy it. Vidya just doesn't feel fun anymore. I'm 36,seriously

Weirdest thing though is I love reading about vidya and still come on 4chan at least an hour everyday
>>
>>381397245
Maybe. I been playing since 5 and now I can't get really motivated to finish things.

>>381397350
I still don't get how it happens.
>>
>>381397702
The stuff in the 80s to late 90s hold more appeal to me to be frank.

Only a handful of games past period I enjoyed. Sometimes it even feels like doing a chore.
>>
>anon makes a thread projecting his issues onto everyone else.
>>
>>381397894
Sames.

>>381398207
Only really finished some old Arcade games this year. Like Mercs but newer stuff just laying there to rot.
>>
>>381397098
Because modern games are all long movie shite or story-based RPGs and are impossible to enjoy without dedicating several hours at a time to them. Pick up a genre like fighting or rhythm that you can enjoy without having to invest so much time in at once. Or just play retro games.
>>
>>381397098
If you lack the ability to indulge in games, that sounds like emotional blockage. 4chin can't help you there because not many people here would even think of "emotion" in relation to games (they treat it as an emotion-bypass, or a distraction)

Do meditation and actually break down your thoughts (prejudices) about yourself and reality, it takes actual guts to do this but that's how you can excise the fears and superstitions that mediate our perception. Learn how to be imaginative and enjoy something for seeming like more than it is at a level of feeling (this is basically what makes games fun).
>>
>>381398374
You think that but ive been here since '05 and i dont think im ever going to leavr
:'(
>>
>>381397098

What I do is just play one game until I finish it. It might take me 6 months, but I do finish games
Also learn to be efficient with your time, I only come and shitpost here once a month or so.
>>
>>381397098
As a child not buying your own games you had to squeeze as much gameplay out of every game until you would finally eventually maybe get a new one. Now you can buy your own games whenever you want and there's no drive to complete every little thing anymore.
>>
>>381397098
depression and other responsibilities. mostly depression.
>>
>>381398374
Why not drop it now if that's the way you feel?
>>
When Grand Theft Auto V came out I was excited to play it. When I finished it I felt a weird revulsion toward video games every since then.

Like, here is this game that cost millions to make. Every inch is carefully polished and perfected. It's mean, violent, depressing, hypocrital and carefully calculated to shock.

It's a beautifully designed cynical cash machine that made more money than 99% of movies.

It just feels wrong or something
>>
>>381403939
That doesn't make any sense.

>>

>I'm dropping games and this shit website the moment I turn 25

no you're not.
>>
>>381397098
It's because now that you're aware of how little time you have left, you feel that everything is a waste of time. You put things off and end up accomplishing nothing anyway and doing easy, menial shit like browsing /v/.

The secret is to just force yourself to play vidya without worrying about it being a waste of time.
>>
It's called tired gamer syndrome. It's when anons can't figure why they don't like stuff as much as they did in middle school playing Halo 2 with their friends or some shit.
>>
>>381397098
I feel the same way anon. I sit here in my room browsing the internet and I have so many games that I haven't even played that I can't bring myself to play. I'll try playing one and within 5 minutes I'm bored.

It fucking sucks to have your only hobby become something you're not interested in anymore.

OP embrace it man. Stop dwelling on how it happens, it just does. If you still want to play games then don't think of it as a start to finish project. Instead jump on a title, play for 5 minutes - 10 minutes - 3 hours, whatever appeals to you. Jump from game to game, delete old saves, try out a game completely out of your comfort zone (I'm not addicted to Euro Truck Simulator). The point is don't attach such gravity to video games.
>>
>>381397098
I can't do it anymore at 22
>>
>>381397098
Because as you get older you come to realize video games are just kind of shit.
>>
Most modern games are trash.

There were a lot of older games (NES and SNES) that I never played growing up that I went back to. I wasn't just able to finish them, I was absolutely hooked. Like when we were kids, where you can just sink hours and hours into them without stop.

Its much more rare for a modern game to get me to want to sink my teeth into it, so to speak.

I'm turning 27 in a month, I have a professional job, a 401k, and am married and buying a house next month. I still come here.

Besides the point, I troll about /v/ for the newest news on games and laugh at the shit posting and console wars.

Extra: My wife and I post /gif/ and /aco/ together and fuck to porn or talk about new BDSM stuff. I've been here since I was 15
>>
>>381405542
Of course he has kids, you'd have to be an awful faggot to be married and yet not have children at that age.
>>
>>381397098
You have been through so much more and find it a lot less acceptable to just tolerate the worthless bullshit in games. I'm not talking about AAA being garbage, either. I'm talking about how 90% of a JRPG is the same repetitive menu, and the other 10% is a terribly watered down story that's overly dramatic just so people actually remember when they get to the next story bit. I'm talking about how platformers challenge you at a skill which is never going to be worthwhile in any other aspect of your life, making the time invested in leaping over that pit feel fairly pointless. I'm talking about adventure games and dungeon crawlers which put you into a "maze", and the way to get out is just to follow the only path out of the room into the next one.

Video games are overwhelmingly repetitive and time-wastey for a reason. That's primarily their purpose. They're designed to waste your time. And even worse, in the current industry, the amount of time they waste is put at a premium: a good game which is several hours (or, hell, just half an hour) is considered garbage, while a dull game which burns up 100 hours is considered wonderful.
>>
>>381405737
Not everyone marries for kids, retard.
>>
>>381405929
So sad that people willingly destroy their family line, hate their heritage, their society, their very souls...
>>
>>381405929
I didn't imply that they do, just that if you're married and childless you are an awful faggot.
>>
>>381399081
You've played enough games, seen all the story tropes, and gotten angry at businesses enough that you see the games as shallow time wasters and money-gougers instead of worthwhile diversions.
>>
>>381406024
Sounds like most millennials. They're the most likely to either never have kids, or have a single designer child

Take Dishonored. It was different and I thought it was a good game, but all anyone could say was >6 hours.
Like there is a hour per dollar requirement that needs to be met with every game.
>>
>>381406503
kids these days eh?
>>
Nothing but a case of procrastinating, back when you were a kid you went to school, probably church or any other activity, you had discipline, either imposed by your parent's or teachers.
As you grew older you got lazy, careless.
No one there to set you straight.
>>
I've finished two games this month and working on a third. Will have it finished tomorrow. I plan on starting another soon.

But I see your point, OP. Finishing more than one or two games a month is a rare occurrence for me these days.
>>
I don't play many games. It helps to avoid gettin burned out. I wait until there's a game I really wanna play.

>>381403939
gta v was a turing point for me too. it was also my first year of college, so that might have something to do with why i game less. been unemployed and out of school for a year and still have minimal intrest in games. i remember feeling off the moment i started 5 and it started with the scripted prologue. i only beat it once on 360. i got it on pc and have yet to beat the story once since it came out. its so weird i cant find any enjoyment in the game. just walking pisses me off and driving is tedious. guns ll feel the same, yet i always pick the lmg. health makes you feellike paper to bullets, but you can sometimes survive beong hit by a car. an online mode that encourages social interaction, yet you cant go into burger shots, only minimarts. its such a disjointed game.
