What went right?

It's a superior game to the original inevery way except the controls.

Though I personally never had a big issue with it playing this game without an analog stick is weird.

Did anyone ever figure out what the door on the far right was for?
I remember cheating in the game to unlock it and going inside just made a bunch of boo noises and then you walk back out.

Fantastic launch game.

Only downside is the textures look really muddy and washed out, and that the powers got split up between everyone. I guess it would have been broken to let anyone have everything, but come on man - let the people who like Wario just play the whole game as Wario.

The original DS came with a kickass wrist-strap with a plastic nub on the end that you could fasten to your thumb, and certain games (like this one) allowed you to use the touchscreen for movement. So in a way, the wrist-strap basically doubled as a makeshift control stick and it worked surprisingly well.

Went to replay it on Dolphin and holy shit playing at 60FPS and up scaling the resolution makes a huge difference. Replay this shit when you guys can, I don't know what it is but it feels like sex to control.

I haven't encountered a single glitch yet and I'm at 40 sprites. According to the wiki, one level is unplayable at 60 but that's it.

I had the glitches and then I realized that the xbox one shoulder buttons aren't pressure sensitive like the gamecube so the fludd was all messed up.

My favorite hub world.

The only thing DS did right was all the extra minigames.

Wario played like a gimped Mario. His jumps are pathetic, his speed is too low, and his strength is underutilized.
Luigi's jumps made the game too easy (on top of that, DS was made easier than 64).
Dividing Mario's abilities among the characters and giving him the useless P-Balloon power-up wasn't a good trade-off.
The new levels are tiny.
Silver stars are marked on your map, removing any sense of accomplishment you'd get from finding them on your own.
64 can be emulated on some portable devices, so the DS version doesn't even have that.
Playing on a 3DS doesn't magically convert digital input to analog, so don't even bring that up.

Face it, you only wank over Luigi's casino.

The updated graphics really made a difference. I thought Dorrie was nightmarish on N64, but in the DS version it looks cute and friendly.

It had decent ideas with half-assed execution. Additional characters largely meant more micromanagement in place of caps and some smaller levels.

Fantastic minigames though.

When you go around the castle you have random (I think its random) chances of finding white sparkling rabbits, each one tells you to catch it's friend or brother or something, the eighth one then gives you the key to the room that gives you a star but after you get the star it only makes boo noises
