i know, but i dont recall ai ever controlling them. i remember saying a no a few times and still seeing obi wan as an option for me to pick until the end of the game. the enemy team never used them. its been forever since ive done galactic conquest though. i usually do a few games of instant action when im feeling nostolgic. the enemy team never uses heroes either.

i made a save on ps2 at the jedi temple level just so i can fight jedi heroes

Enemy team uses them when I say no all the time and Knightfall is a great level so no shame in that.

I hate using gun heroes in BF2 other than Han because every other gun hero sucks. Literally the only good thing about EA Battlefront is making gun heroes viable and using Clone Wars Va even though I love Temura's voice.

the only other way i fought heroes was the assault mode on mos eisly. i didnt find it until years, and i mean YEARS after i played the games to hell. i think it was like 2012 and i was bored one day and fired up the ol ps2 phat. i randomly picked it cause i thought assault was a space only mode. it is, but on mos eisly it gives you every damn hero and villian in a huge battle. if i was a kid playing that, i would have creamed myself way earlier. i loved using han to blast jango and boba out of the fucking sky.

So Obi-Wan is familiar enough with destroyer droids to see them rolling forwards and immediately recognize them. He also refers to them simply as "destroyers," which again indicates that he has prior knowledge of their existence. Furthermore, he seems quite concerned by their appearance, as does Qui-Gon, who right away stops trying to cut through the door and turns to fight.

However, Obi-Wan seems to be unaware of the fact that the droids have shield generators until the droids stand up and start firing. But how could he not know this? Was he familiar only with a version of droidekas that lacked shields? But if that were the case, why would he have been so concerned about the threat they pose. They would be absolutely no match for jedi without shields. I guess Obi-Wan was just looking out for the audience, what a nice guy.

Still, there's the question of why Qui-Gon ordered a retreat from the fight. He said that the fight was a "stand-off," presumably because he and Obi-Wan were unable to instantaneously dispatch the droidekas by reflecting their blaster shots back at them. But why is that situation a stand-off? Were the shields going to last forever? And were the shields also impervious to direct lightsaber attacks? Are droideka shields the most powerful thing in the universe?

Also clones did use reflector shield tech. It was just used defensively. Droidekas are just highly mobile support weapon platforms.
