I haven't cried, at anything, since my little sister killed herself years ago. My parents got divorced and two of my grandparents died and yeah, nothing. But this fucking game man.

I played this like a few months after I moved out on my own for the first time my freshman year of college. I felt bad leaving my brother behind because he had only just started to come out of his shell and make new friends. I wouldnt be there for him if something happened to him
>Im so scared
>im so alone
>just let me win
>he just wanted you to stay
When I look back at it, it was really cheesy, but the mix of god tier music and the fact it hit really close to home made that scene WAY sadder than it actually was.

It's easily the game thats gotten the most emotional response out of me even before the sibling stuff got involved. Afterwards I just really wanted my sister back.
It does a good job making those cheesy scenes work because it builds them up right and is just very well executed. The game does a great job at invoking an emotional connection by echoing themes, songs, environments etc. youve experienced earlier for emotional effect. In this way it manages to give you a feeling of nolstalgia for for things you only saw hours ago.
Asriel's theme is a great example because its introduced in places long before you actually meet him (the music box at the waterfall) So hearing it again gives you a connection to him.

Man i really wanted to like halo 4, and 5 but holy shit. halo 4's campaign dissapointed me so bad that i've just given up hope on the halo franchise. i still watch the halo 2 cutscenes like once a year because it was fucking incredible (minus that ending). halo 5 was alright. too much random black guy and not enough chief though. Yeah fuck that game in particular. The "extra notes" were fucking hardcore depressing. Easily one of the saddest games I've played.

Multiplayer doesn't work 6-12 months after, And that's including co-op online. One of the main reasons halo is so fucking fun is the couch co-op, but that shit didn't even fucking work for the first few months. If you only play halo games for Single player campaign, then the MCC is perfectly fine, but people who have alot of old halo buddies who want to re-live that old co-op and multiplayer fun are fucked. It's probably fixed now but that doesn't excuse the first year of broken multiplayer. As much as i love the campaign and story, sometimes i want to play a video game with my buddies, and MCC just could not do that.
>>381389625
That wasn't hard.
The bad news is... where I found it.

True ending of Xillia 2. Dying for best daughteru, completely worth it.
Didn't expect I'd enjoy Xillia 2 as much as I did considering how medicore the first game was. Despite the sequel having a silent protagonist/self-insert he somehow managed to be much more memorable than Jude. Ludger was a 10/10 dad.

I don't understand people's beef with Cortana's motivations. While Halo 4 and 5 themselves did little in the way of themes to build up what she's doing, there is a bit of it in Halo 4 with the Didact trying to save humanity from itself.
Cortana's known fighting and war most of her life. Now that she's happened upon some knowledge that can possibly bring all the fighting she's known to a stop, she wants to go for it. It's really strongest when Chief pleads with her:
>Come with us. It's not too late to stop this
>Stop? No, John. This is too important to stop.
Because what would John, or the player, have her do if she did? What? She'd either be deactivated, or go back to being the Chief's partner as they bumble from conflict to conflict for the rest of their lives. She sees a way to stop all conflict, and she's fucking going for it. It's completely fine motivation.
This entire god damn game.

Going further, I'm really itching to see how Halo 6 resolves the conflict. They'll have to kill Cortana if they want to keep the status quo going. And what revelations will the characters then have? They want war to keep happening?
>>381409413
