I've played a lot of very, very good games, but very few games I have loved as much as I loved Persona 5, including previous Persona games. It was just a complete, utter joy to play through for me. Gameplay, visuals, characters, music, wouldn't change a thing.

What? The airlocks weren't that bad. Is this a shared opinion by people? My buddy who had beaten the game was next to me as I went through Okumura's Palace and all he said was "This part is fucking stupid." Just look at the map. Plan your moves. Be aware of what the gates do. It's fine. I had no problem with the airlocks, and thought they were an okay puzzle.

it's way too long and had way too many obstacles like IDs and Arm traversing etc.

It's a great game, but the second half was clearly rushed. The game spent a long time introducing the characters and mission but it didn't come to anything. The group always seemed to just be together as a sterile mission-focused team and never had any of the friendly atmosphere the ones in 3 and 4 did. Also the way the game develops after a certain point is just a bunch of rushed events in quick succession without any fleshing out and with you left at the end thinking 'what happened?'

The ending of the game felt like finishing Etrian Odyssey or something where you just get a 'you killed the boss, congratulations' type message. That's how bad the whole end of the game was.

But it had the best gameplay of any SMT game (shame it had no real challenges); great art design, sound, and so on.

Do people really think the mcs in persona games have no identity of their own? How stupid can one be to think this?

What the fuck was with Akechi

Its like they kept trying to build him up as a good rival/foil only to blow their load in a ridiculously convoluted way, then quickly killed him off and never mentioned him again except for a brief moment where fucking God talks about how he and Joker were supposed to be battling for the world despite the fact that Akechi just ended up being a midboss for Shido who also ended up being irrelevant once they went full SMT

I loved the game but holy shit I've never seen a character with so much potential just get rushed out yet still be insanely popular

I don't know about 40 hours but it definitely starts to feel rushed. I think the worst part about the space palace is how cool it could have been. It feels like such a wasted opportunity. I feel like Yakuza Zero is the better game simply because I was blowing through the final twenty hours of story on the edge of my seat just to see what happened next whereas with Persona I was struggling to finish the damn thing through five different points where it could have stopped but instead just kept going.

Pretty great desu, huge improvement over 4. Having actual dungeons was a great addition alongside bringing over traditional SMT elements that should've been in the games from the start (Demons, negotiation, etc.). Story was solid with great thematic elements that tied into the actual gameplay surprisingly smoothly. P5 also had way significantly better pacing and character development than 4's, mainly because of the more varied story events. Although the pacing and character development wasn't as good as 2's or 3's, it was still solid. Fantastic soundtrack and visuals obviously as well.

9/10 GOTY so far, Odyssey might dethrone it but we'll see.

Was a pretty good time. I think I ultimately still enjoy Persona 3 more though. 5 upped the game mechanically to a point that everything just feels so damn smooth and stylish but when it comes to the characters, story and overall journey I feel like 3 was stronger. Was difficult to care about anyone or anything in P5 and it felt like there was never really high stakes.
