They never mean to screw anybodys expectations. The forst game ark explained and fonished and the game shouldve been a tarantono-like story. But yeah it finished too suddenly.

it was just that the level design was kinda shit in HM2 and letting you play as too many different disjointed things was weird because they all control differently etc. i personally liked it, and if it HAD the level editor it would be way more fondly remembered, but HM1 is just the original and is much more cohesive

I only played HM 1 and 2 a few months ago but they did hype me up like nothing else in a long time. A big reason is the music

To be honest both games felt very similar but the hardmode is what makes HM2 a much better game.
