It's a great game but the translation patch definitely does lessen the experience to some degree. If you're confident that you'll still be alive several years from now you might want to put it off and wait for a translation.

Hard is a bit harder than the game's original difficulty.

Make Faye a cleric because she gets physic really early. Getting Mathilda is a crapshoot on hard without it.

It's the one where your team gets separated with half in the desert and the other on grass and paths. I think I just turtle and take it too slow, Witches spawn and teleport at the top and cavs spawn at the bottom if you take too long.

I have some neat tactics but I'm concerned reliability will be an issue for future ironman runs

I'm playing path of radiance for the first time and I'm making it a hard mode playthrough. I've been doing pretty good and I have a ton of bonus exp. Which units are the best and which should I give the bonus xp to, also I'm on chapter 11.

I also have radiant dawn and want to know if there's anything I should know before going into that

If I remember right, certain versions of the game would have an error if you tried to do a save transfer from PoR to RD. I can't remember the specifics, but I think it was due to Easy mode or something like that.

Yeah that sounds like chapter 9. I don't recall there being a lot of witch reinforcements, you can probably wait them out if you want to turtle.

If you want a very conservative tactic, have a couple units choke off the bottom to keep the cavaliers at bay while the rest of your army assembles in the north (moving through the desert) and slowly advances.
I recommend taking Raffin and Zeek on Runan's route, they're very useful.

I would give BEXP to Astrid when she joins. She starts at level 1, but once she catches up, she's very good. I don't have my screenshots anymore, but on my last playthrough she was easily one of my best units; capped Str, Skl, Spd, and Def.

Give BEXP to whichever characters you like the best, Marcia and Jill are good candidates. There are transfer bonuses between PoR and RD but don't worry about them, they're not worth fussing over.

Note that the NA release of PoR removes the actual hardest difficulty setting so if you're a FE veteran you might want to get the jap ver + english patch.

echoes was a lot better in the gameplay department that people give it credit for

Dont get me wrong the maps are bland as shit but I like the fact that with the constant but timed reinforcements the preassure is on and you really cant viably turtle your way through the game. Ive had chapters where all my characters had less than half HP because I had to properly manage tanking while moving offensively rather than jus tbaiting out enemies individually
