I hope they do some rebalancing for the Switchaxe to give you a reason to switch back between forms. It seems like MHXX gave a reason with the brave style but it seems like the way power phials work the sword form will usually be better.

Glavenus I really just want because it's design is so cool that I really want to see it rendered in current gen graphics.

I think Gore Magala has the biggest chance of getting in the game simply because it's apparently in that shitty movie that's coming out. I think Capcom would want some synergy dosh so they'd throw in Gore Magala.

Aside from Gore Magala, Khezu, Rathalos/Rathian, Khezu, and the Blos, I think World is probably gonna be another roster reset like Tri was.

The way I see it is this:
In the old game, you could use a potion right before getting hit in order to avoid dying a hit that you'll inevitably tank. It's something that quite a few mid level players are bound to do, because it's obviously better than fainting, given the choice. In World, you're given the choice to either try to run from the hit and hope you avoid the monster, if you do then great, if not then you're basically at a worse position than you were before, or you could roll away and lose out on half a potion or so, which ends you up at where you were in the previous game had you tanked the hit, except that you're slightly better off cause you're not downed.

The changes are really easy to look at and say "oh this is casualized" but if you actually run the various situations that might happen through your head, you can realize that they're not really that different from what you dealt with in previous games. Players are given a more "comfortable" toolset, sure, but it's not at a point where you're bound to always avoid taking damage while healing.

At any rate, I have faith that the game will still be challenging, and balanced. A dev team that doesn't change these mechanics for a long time is bound to carefully consider how to change the game if they're going to change mechanics that have stood the test of time for nearly 15 years.

I just started fighting this fucking bug in 4U. I killed it okay enough on the first quest, but then when I encountered one while on a gather mission (trying to get sap plants, didn't pick up a single one) I ended up spending half an hour fighting the fucking thing. Cunt wouldn't die, I broke its horn but the cunt wouldn't stop flying about. Hunting flying things with a hammer is poison.

And I need another horn from it before I can get the rocket hammer. I bet it will take another few before I get another, fucking RNG. Even if they casualise MHW, you can bet that the shitty ass RNG will still be there.

I don't get how Rathalos is the flagship monster of the franchise.
I just don't get it.
This has to be the least fun monster in the game, period. It just flies around like a piece of shit, has HORRENDOUS animations and some of the most gimmicky bullshit I've ever seen (such as the roar into fireball attack, FUCK YOU).
I hate this fucking monster so much and I hate that it's one of the only monsters that require me to use up items in order to not have to wait for the MOTHERFUCKER TO COME DOWN FROM THE AIR FUCK YOU

I will never reach that level, I'm pretty sure. Not on 3U or 4U anyway, I dumped a bunch of hours into 3U but I don't think I even finished the main story quest.

Part of why I'm looking forward to MHW, the only times I play on my 3DS are when I'm physically separated from my main game devices (on trips and such). At home I really can't be doing with it. I think I'll put way more time into MHW if I can do it comfortably on a proper screen with a controller.

Anyway, RNG is fucking bullshit. I can't see any reason to defend it; not even on a hardcore/casual basis, since it's almost entirely skill independent. As I said, I doubt that it'll be changed, but that's something that needs a major change compared to other parts of MH as a whole.

Putting it another way, even if you could bring over some weaker monster to go fight say, a rajang, I doubt it could even scratch the thing, so that's off the table, and I'd like to see you try to land those falling rock traps on a rajang or a tigrex.

One of the things that really caught my attention about the demo was the dynamic music. Dark Souls fights last 2-3 minutes and you can easily overlevel instead of improving your strategy to progress.
With MH, fights last a little longer if you're good or a lot longer if you're just average. You can't ever be overgeared for the fight you're currently at so there's no easy way out. You gotta find the monster every time you faint unlike in DaS where the boss is always at the same place.

The game is fun to solo if you're experienced in the game. Starting that outside of the hand-holding 4U and Gen titles would be quite the experience. I wouldn't recommend the PSP titles. The lack of a second thumbstick and the lack of an alternative on it is a bad idea, unless you're masochistic. If you want to try to PSP titles, use a PC emulator.
