donated my ps3 and all of my games to goodwill because i never played it.

If you're a completionist, do them as soon as you can. There's a cutoff where you can't complete side quests from the early game.

Theres only certain sidequests you really "need" to do to get the true ending, and thats any that give you a weapon since you have to have all weapons to get the final ending.
The Damaged Map, which is given by the Blacksmith in Nier's town.
Disturbing the Sleep of Kings (have to complete the side quest "A shade Entombed" first.) You aren't at the point to receive either of these yet if you just met Emil though.
and The Magical Stone (in the Forest of Myth) are quests to look out for. I think they are all after the point of no return for the game though so you have time.
Those 3 are the only ones needed to get the final ending.

People who only played Automata are Platinum-memers who only played MGR.

I love NieR one is probably my favorite PS3 game.
I feel the same way about Automata on PS4.
There are those of us who deeply love both.

Also why does no one ever talk about how unexplained the save deletion is? How is Tyrann capable of carrying out the sacrifice? Nier literally just vanishes without reason. Seems like a result of rushing the end

D2 was a departure but still had some decent elements.

I found the game by chance at a gamestop and heard literally nothing about it until long after I stopped playing it for newer games.

Honestly the gameplay was really clunky and while the story is good I don't think it makes up for the controls. My standards at the time must have been too high with Demon's Souls having released just over a year earlier.

I honestly think people are better reading the story on some wiki, or by watching a youtube playthrough where the people playing comment on both the game feeling clunky and the music and story being surprisingly good for an otherwise low quality game.
