I've enjoyed a handful of them, but this is the newest one and I'm interested in playing it a little bit. That is, if it's not an insufferable piece of shit.

It's really button mash-y for a tales game. It's better than zesteria though. Also if you're playing velvet you will never die regardless of difficulty.

It has the same insufferable shit open world and dungeons it always had. But the story and characters is fucking awesome.
I liked the gameplay, but i can see that others might not enjoy it.

Compared to the recent Tales it has a good cast, a button smashy combat system with really overpowered characters (very little challenge but not too bad for grinding), average music and story and bad graphics. I'm sure if you can bear with the prequel you'll enjoy this game.

I really hated the fucking linear hallway dungeons in zestiria

Symphonia had the best dungeons and a decent world without being an overly huge fuckwd about making me take forever to get where I was going.

Yes but you still have another retarded system that replaced it.

You get a weird board that makes you travel faster but i only remember getting it after 60+ hours in game, until then, yeah, you take forever to get where you need to.
Also, the graphics are bad, but i don't care that much about it, since i was able to play on my potato thanks to that.

The game was a tedious piece of shit with too big of a game world, a weapon crafting system that made no sense, dungeons that were dog shit mazes with cooridors, and worst of all the game stops halfway to make you search the entire fucking world for 12 magical ball macguffins before the story continues.

Imagine the triforce hunt quest in wind waker times ten.

the stupid pointless equipment grid is gone, but crafting and rng-influenced loot is still there

since it was only one vestigal system instead of two, i was able to ignore it for most of the game without feeling underpowered, but i play tales games for the characters/story, and always coast along on normal so your mileage may vary

I think it's the best tales game yet. I've owned quite a few, and played many more, but I couldn't help but like the story AND combat in this one. Way better than zesty.
