Sure, they aren't what they once were but they are still fun to play for either nostalgia or play together with friends when drinking or whatever. They are arcade-y so you can compete about high score. You have to use your imagination. Atari games aren't going to spoon-feed you the scenario. Make one up yourself and play it. They could very easily compile all the sports titles into a single game cart, focus play on party or family-centric fast low time investment sessions. 1v1 or 2v2 pong, tennis, volley ball, all of them.

Complete re-imaginings of other IPs are possible. Asteroids, Berzerk, Yars' Revenge, Adventure...hell, I had a dream last night about the tank game in Combat, a procedurally-generated battlespace of one or several biomes, with giant, city block sized spacey tanks blasting each other with deathrays and rockets. big chunks of smoking armor being blasted into the sand. trees struck by misses catching fire. It was trippy.

Atari was garbage. Every fucking game released for the thing and its 100 revisions and addons were terrible.

They'll probably have to re-do all the atari classics with modern tech though, most likely with 3D graphics as well as other extra mechanics and gimmicks people are accustomed to these days. Gotta make them flashy and full of "juice" to make them a joy to play.

Something like Missile Command could be a really interesting game to expand upon.

If devs for the platform prioritise couch multiplayer it could be a seriously good contender. The Wii did amazingly well just for Wii Sports on its own among normies.

All kidding aside, I see what you're saying. But you're complaining about nothing. /v/ is what it is. A shithole. The difference is that there are FEW threads that have good tone. Everyone is just angry. So I rather be in a thread with happiness and funposting than a sour thread with just shitposting.

See what I mean. I don't see the need for people to come here and complain because if this thread wasn't here there would be another shitpost thread in it's stead. These threads aren't provoking anyone, at least not willingly. The only time people here talk back is when someone come to shitpost. Otherwise they're just people having fun pretending. What's so wrong with that?

If the rest of /v/ actually were discussions then I could most def see people being annoyed. But that's not the case.
