i honestly liked how it didnt stick with the horror stuff all the way through once you had a real arsenal of weapons and then moved on to what felt like a fps version of standard resident evil style
i did enjoy the early horror as well

I feel most RE games besides REmake turn more action later into the game.
Just look at RE2 and 3 pure classic survival horror.
But I think people forget by the end of those games you are pretty much walking death as you have enouth ammo and guns to kill everything and it turns into a really fun shooting gallery near the end with more zombies and bosses.
This is not a knock to the old REs at all in fact I love that deign of starting you off as weak and scared then turning you into a bad ass killer by the end.

I paid full price at release and I felt I got my money's worth. Classic RE was always short and designed for repeat playthroughs. I'd rather that than loads of padding, and considering how the game dropped in quality toward the end, I don't think making it longer would have helped.
