I really prefer not to but in games like csgo it's good to have, or rather, inconvenient to not have.
It seems like anonymity in online games is pretty much a bygone culture and in MMOs a lot of people would prefer to have voice chat handy and just use it as a hangout group. I hate it because even if I don't care about "immersion" I do like to just chill and not have to talk when I play a fucking game and I hate wearing headsets.

Yes when playing Siege, even if only one person on the team is feeding other players info it can provide a huge advantage, without it you are left typing shit out that teammates may be too preocupied to see or is only up for a second due to the enemy team spamming chat, spotting is also very rarely superior to a callout.

Be playin' Rainbow 6 Siege the first night I bought it. Team is all dead, only myself as Ash left alive, orange team has 3 people still standing.

Feel teams eyes on me as I sneak closer and closer to the bomb, lean down a hallway and send my explosive projectile thing flying down to a unreinforced wall, at the same time two of the baddies come zooming around the corner as it goes off, does splash damage to Jager and he goes down, I panic and empty my mag into the second guy, team cheers over mic right as I back into a room with a tripwire setup and blow myself to bits.

Everyone on my team was congratulating me for the good kills and didn't even get onto me for the newbie mistake.


10/10 would totally siege again, good community of folks on there sometimes.

it's funny when playing a game online, typically a shooter and it's dead silent as far as mic usage goes. then all a grill has to do is say one fucking word and suddenly like 3 guys start using their mics, but not directly talking to the girl, just suddenly they care about having a discussion about the game or feel the need to talk tactics of the game. hilarious and pathetic and I've seen it happen so many times, what the fuck is with dudes who do this? how desparate?
