How is GR2 combat compared to GR1?

I'm personally hating GR1 combat as it's just gravity kick the entire time. Also the fucking swordfish fucks are annoying as hell. Does GR2 still have the wonky camera effects on floating as well? It annoys me that the FOV changes everytime you stop.

Combat's a bit more varied due to shifting gravity styles but ultimately gravity kicks have been nerfed while stasis got buffed to stupid levels of broken. Camera's not really any better in it, either.

10x bigger, smoother, and prettier. Also Gravity Kick and Stasis field swap places from useless/best attack in the game. GR2 lets you put motion control sensitivity to 0 and R3 re-planes the camera, but otherwise the perspective does shift like the first. The sidequests don't have a huge variety, and there's a ton of them, but otherwise it's better in every single way to the first.

There's more variety in monsters that lets you get more useage of your new moves, such as armored enemies and fast flying ones, which makes things pretty fun. For about the first half of the game though, you really will just be spamming Stasis Field (which is better than Gravity Kick spam since at least you have to fly around but still), but with the different modes that come later, it really does become actually fun.

They made it several times bigger but paid the usual price: hundreds of sidequests are pointless fetch quests, where you're lucky if you get a joke in the end, the randomized stat equipment is as boring as usual, the character upgrades make barely any difference. Combat's way better, though. It's entertaining enough, especially if you just ignore side-quests, or better yet know the few ones actually worth playing, but I can't recommend it over the first game.
