Overall, it felt like a mess. RE7 felt far more cohesive and thus enjoyable.

RE7 tried to cash in on the whole spook simulator and produced a game that that had little to no variety, quite possibly the worst "couldn't' give a fuck" plot yet, uninspired characters, typical Japanese scary little girl, unimaginative black goo, sneaking around, shit it's basically an indie game bought by Capcom and re-labeled RE. Because one of the things that makes Resident Evil great is that it's normal people trying to survive impossible situations. I get that most of them are highly-trained but this is bordering on Superhero power level bullshittery.

I didn't really like RE4. Instead of a survival horror they made an action game with bad controls.

I meant "normal" as "Within Human limitations". Do you think actual real world humans are capable of the feats these characters regularly perform? Even the most highly trained hardened Navy Seals don't have that type of skill set. I get that it's a game and it's the rule of cool but in RE7, you actually feel more vulnerable since you play as a normal person and you can't just suplex any B.O.W that comes your way. I'm guessing this is why jake from Re6 is hated so much, because he reminds fans of the Live-action films.

It's like the complaints around Batman, Batman is a highly trained Martial Artist, Tactician, and good at pretty much anything. But when he's starts taking on high level powered threats like Darkseid while having plot armor stop him from getting killed then the "Batman is a better character and more relatable since he's only human just like us" argument suddenly has less weight.

But anon one of the first things you see in RE is the Alpha team outrun a pack of dogs that don't need to breathe, get tired, or anything that hinders a living creature. What you want just isn't in the spirit of the games, I'd think you'd be more happy with Silent Hill. The first thing you do in that game is die.
