Nowadays there are no sandbox MMOs anymore, everything is the usual WoW clone, shitty healer/tank/dps trinity with each class being the exact same thing as every other in the role, no originality or creativity at all.

No. I eventually learned that, while the game is good and the soundtrack is amazing (pretty much the main reason why I still remember RO), the think that made the game enjoyable was the community.
Even if you remove all the retarded shit and killed all pirate servers before they supposedly "damaged" RO's development direction, that old community will never come back. Not just because old players aren't interested in RO anymore, but because these old players also changed a lot since the first time they played the game. It will never be the same thing.
If I really missed the game, and just the game, I could easily set up an "offline/single player" server (like I did with Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst) and play it by myself, but I know that wouldn't enjoy it for very long.

The only community that is fine is the JP ones on Nintendo games, but if you don't speak expect basic alienation. Every other gaming community is corrupt, like they've all had a taste of MOBAs and nothing else.

Which is sad, because people use to be so chill in Halo2, Soldier Bro's in Delta Force games like Black Hawk Down, Nerdy and unashamed in DaoC, and cheerful + adventerous in Ragnarok Online.

Now it's toxic as fuck, to the point people remove community features such as being able to talk in a common lobby to group up. Just a culture of bullying the new, abusing others to get ahead. MMO gaming evolved into a shitty way.

I fucking love using shit like blessing on undead killing zombies with heal, using storm gust to freeze enemies then finish them off with jupitel thunder, using magnus exorcimus on emperium and seeing all the assassins with evil druid card die was great. The don't want to code phases or elements into enemies. I remember grinding orcs for fucking forever, then getting an elemental weapon and rip n tear the next day. Or how valuable it was to get into a bard / dancer party then head to the casino to club some seals.

The joys of soloing dungeons for that one head piece, to getting butt raped in some maps unless you took the next level of item preparation with others in the game.

Or being low level and hunting the MVP monster on the map before someone comes along to kill it.

Also being a knight meant attacking off a mount was the bomb.

I'm not separating it, it's actually the opposite. Just like graphics/artstyle, soundtrack, and other aspects, a community was a very important component for Ragnarok. "Removing" it from RO is like removing the soundtrack and putting some garbage shit in its place. Yeah, the game still is playable, but you know it's not the same thing anymore.

a few of them were. The sniper set is good for gunslingers and until your sniper gets super late game gear it is better than the majority of things you can have.

The assassin set is also useful for grimtoothing certain fast mobs that you normally wouldn't be able to gather or the movespeed in general helps if you setup for double dagger to one shot whatever you are farming.

Fond memories playing during the RO beta, then beta 2.Cards used to be rare and useless.

I remember the IRO servers going down for a long while and my friends and I having to go to Japanese servers to get our fix.

Was one of the first priests on Loki when the second jobs were first released.

I didn't play for as long after that so what RO turned out to be was quite different from what I remember.
