Why don't i ever see this game discussed on /v/? I see rayman 1, 2 and legends threads occasionally but never any for this game. What gives? I remember it being super fun and it being really underrated. Am i blinded by nostalgia or is this a hidden gem?
>>
>>381314231
I never got to play it
>>
it was literally better than super mario sunshine.
>>
It's great
Andre best villain
>>
>>381314231
In terms of Rayman, which never was the most discussed series on /v/ (my favorite game is Rayman 1 though), it's kind of the odd one out. Michael Ancel didn't work on it, so it's unlikely to ever be referenced again. It's full of just weird humor, some of it actually pretty fun, but it's bizarre even for a Rayman game.

I do remember it being a bit unever, but it had some great fucking moments - like the Land of the Livid Dead. Also, the last bossfight just goes balls-to-the-fucking-wall, it has like 5 stages? Pretty cool shit. So yeah, good game.

ALSO MADDER

>>
I feel like this game was like someone combined Crash: Twinsanity and Super Mario Sunshine, it had the visual and comedical wackyness of Twinsanity (the space surf levels, globox being allergic to plum juice, etc...) while also having fun platforming which was enhanced by cool gadgets and lots of secrets like sunshine. This is the best Rayman game by far.
>>
>>381314231
I'm not sure what you're talking about, it generally comes up any time /v/ discusses rayman and people seem to have a favorable opinion of it. It's personally my favorite rayman game, the stages are really gorgeous.

>tfw too stupid for rayman 2
I remeber playing it as a kid and thought the game ended in the cave of bad dreams because the game trolls you with the "the end" screen. I actually thought the game was over and got super confused. I picked the game up 2 years later and realized how retarded i was.
>>
>>381314231
Its actually really good from what I remember.
I played it on the ps2.
Though power ups were all limited but the last boss had interesting mechanics.

Why did you choose money over adventure?
>>
>>381315795
I couldn't speak english so i didn't understand it. I could comprehend what a fat rayman chilling with tons of money and a "the end" sign meant.
>>
All the original 3 Rayman games are brilliant, but I'm too shit to fully appreciate 1 so my order is 2 > 3 > 1

I remember me and my friend being so fucking hype for 'Rayman 4', and then Rabbids came out I still really liked it, and Rabbids 2,
and Rabbids go home

also rayman arena is gold

Don't remember it a lot, just that the tutorial had a guy fucking with you saying things like “use the jump key to jump“ or “press the attack button to attack“ and I found it hilarious but I was like 12.

>>
>>381314231
I've played through it again recently. It definitely holds up, and it really is in a class of its own. It still holds that kind of dreamlike quality to it, but it's definitely early aughts in its overall attitude. There's a couple of shit segments, like The Longest Shortcut and a few places in the Land of the Livid Dead, but overall an incredibly varied and creative game that goes all over the place. The bosses also get exponentially better and off the wall as the game progresses, and I love that.

It's vastly underrated on the level that is rivaled to FF7
>People that prefer the previous game (R2/FF6) don't like how much the sequel gets since it doesn't do "everything" the way they liked about the prequel.
>Hates on all the "modern" changes because it makes them feel "cringy"
>Isn't "muh" x

You do notice how everyone that likes Rayman 2 likes the 64 version? 9 out of ten this means it was their first Rayman, considering Rayman one being for the likes of the Jaguar, which no one owned, or the PC, which is more likely that people would have started with, the only other way to start off with Rayman is Rayman 1 for PC OR PS1, or Rayman 2 with the Nintendo 64. With said R2 starters this means their first view on Rayman was "grimdark" because of how Razorbeard decimated the lands of the Glade of Dreams. Now compare R2 to R3, which lightens up the mood a bit with more comedic light hearted elements, it makes the game to them feel "cringy" and "a joke" to them. Barring the fact that Rayman 1 was more or less on the same level of setting as Rayman 3 was. Only 2 was the most "dark" in the series.

Basically R3 is a underrated game because it really is a better game to R2 only thing that is held back is the "scale" of the game even though it's not really smaller than R2, just not as open as 2. But literally everything else about R3 is vastly better; style, music, level design and above all else, gameplay, which is literally R2 but polished up and solidified. It's only R2fags have first game bias and thinks Rayman being not just Mario 64 but "serious" is how Rayman can only be.
>>
>>381323124
Rayman 2 wasn't my first rayman, I still prefer it to 3. But then again I think the latest ones are fantastic
>>
Rayman 3 is my favorite but 2 has my favorite level in vidya, that level with around 10 minutes of running wihtout rest from the constantly rising water and falling platforms

I think I remember liking it a lot as a kid. Some weird jokes, strange visuals, very good platforming and gameplay elements...
But also being a bit disappointed by the lack of world map (while Rayman 2 had one) to replay the levels whenever I wanted. Did it aged good ? Now that I see it I kindda want to do it again.
>>
The Desert of the Knaaren scared the absolute living shit out of me as a kid, didn't play and finish the game until I was about 14 years old. Pretty confident in saying it's in my top 5 favorite games ever.

What's the best platform to play 3 on? I know 2 had Dreamcast but 3 was ported a bunch. Wikipedia tells me that GC had exclusive content, but how do the graphics hold up?
