Honestly, no. Not because he couldn't do a better job than SE at making a FF game, but because there is no way that SE would let FF not be produced by SE, and looking at the games they have shat out for a while, I don't think the director, no matter how good, could make a good FF based on the team creating it.

Honestly, I think people just have their nostalgia goggles on too tight. XV had issues, but they are looking like they are slowly but surely righting the ship to where it needs to be. If it was just the FF brand holding things up, Nier would have solidly sold more than XV, because the vanilla launch was rough while Nier's was great. People just make the pitiful excuse that FF is dead each new iteration, despite the fact XV cranked out numbers almost higher than P5 and Nier combined, despite the deluge of negativity it had both during development and after its release.

SE just needs to let their youngbloods get recognition instead of leaning to the old guard all the time. There are lots of talented people there. I mean shit, how many divisions do they have now? And stop shoveling more work on Nomura, a guy who just wants to be a designer, who already told SE he doesn't want to direct.
