Technically the tutorial level is free

IO HAVE LEARNT NOTHING FROM GOING BANKRUPT DUE TO EPISODIC AND DENUVO.

After their episodic blunder Paris should of been free

www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/170591-Hitman-Prologue-Now-Free-to-Download-IO-Interactive

PS; for the same download size you could torrent the whole game and bypass all the episodic garbage/buying each single level
>>
>>381308543
What's wrong with episodic release? It's not like the game is more expensive because of it. It costs the same as any full priced game.
>>
>>381308779
Is this post a joke? You got one level of the game per month.
No, your autistic ability to replay the same level over and over doesn't invalidate that.
>>
>>381308868
Okay? I'm not following you. What the fuck is the problem there?
So lets say I buy an episode of that game and don't want to replay levels, which would make me a complete dumbass for buying it in the first place because that game doesn't work if you only play a level once, and then I play the one level a month... What is the problem here?

What exactly is the advantage of playing the levels of Hitman one after another? I'm not seeing it.

I mean I get it if you don't like the game at all, it's a pretty niche title and has plenty of flaws, but there is nothing wrong with the fact that it's release model is episodic.
>>
>>381309337
Not him but don't play this angle, hitman is anything but niche
>>
>>381308543

>>

>>
>>381309502
>>381309628

Hitman is a niche, mainly because proper gameplay of the game is difficult and most people crumble when trying to play something like this.

I still can't believe they added the instict mode, I'm playing the game with all HUD elements off just to have a better experience.

People are too fucking retarded to learn a game these days.

Sure, I'll try the demo, maybe that'll push me into getting it. What they really ought to do next is remove the always online component and make the elusive target stuff replayable. I really like the look of the game, but fuck that pointless bullshit.
>>
>>381308543

But all the episodes are out. The episodic thing is now a void point. Anyone new introduced to the game won't have your stance on it.
And what is this claim that IOI is at fault?
Square Enix is the one pulling the strings. IOI just made the best of it.
>>
>>381309791
Yea I played it with the noob mode off too, it's much better that way. Only had it on for the first tutorial. It's their attempt to attract the normalfags, but I don't think it worked.

>Wait, is it really online-only?
Yes and no. You can play offline, however playing offline locks ALL further level mastery and gear progression, meaning you can not unlock anything new unless you're connected online.

Playing online also has its share of issues. If there's server problems it's pretty much gg and even when they are working fine, if you're doing anything else with your internet like downloading something all the in-game menus get massive slowdowns.

Because there is no reason for it to be always online at all, I have a fibre connection but there is no reason for it to be this way. There is no valid reason for what they are doing outside of DRM.

Piracy is not a big deal to game sales and hackers can remove the always online anyway, so it just fucking punishes people who buy your game for no benefit.

If the servers go down you can't play, if there is issues connecting due to overloading (like free players having to connect too) then you can't play the game as it was intended.

>You can't unlock anything new unless you're connected to online servers.

>>
>>381312226
Have you never witnessed the release of any always online game ever? There's always problems. Even if your own internet is absolutely 100% always perfect, there will be server-side issues. There's no reason for a single-player game to have always online, it's not an MMO. It's basically glorified DRM.
>>

>internet goes down for ANY reason

>>381311340
Think about, SE are the publishers right? That means they have the say on how the game is distributed and published eg. an episodic format. If they wanted to they could have funded IO until the whole thing was finished but they didn't.
They're also doing a similar thing with the FF7 remake plus the severs the game used were SE severs, it blatantly asks you to make an SE online account when you play it for the first time.

There's no legitimate reason for single player games to be always-online, simple as that.
>>
>>381313972
But it doesn't work for Telltale and does work for Hitman.
>>
>>381313546
So how do you know Hitman didn't make back its money? Make Squeenix had different reasons to drop this franchise and its devs.
>>
>>381313386
By now, I'd say you're missing out on easily 25% worthwhile content by pirating it, 50% if you count every single contract uploaded by every fuckwad down the block.
>>
>>381313972
But in TellTale games, you're left waiting until the next episode comes out to continue the plot, and that was often two months inbetween. Hitman follows the same route as Blood Money where missions plots are self contained but connect to an overarching plot that's shown after the cutscene, leaving it there and important, but didn't drag on the wait till the next episode dropped the next month.
>>
>>381313331

Having the new hitman be a "platform" for content rather than a game in the traditional sense was a great decision that suffered from stigma that episodic games rightfully deserve.
But going autistic over it when it's been proven that it works perfectly is just ridiculous.
Hitman works best in self contained levels with lots to play around with, and that's exactly what we're getting.

They could have released the first season all at once as a single game to keep idiots from complaining about "muh episodes", but then they'd complain about any further releases as "muh dlc jewery" regardless, so they were upfront about the business plan.

I really can't fucking wait for the second season.

Unless you have the actual investor details, I find it hard to believe that the newest Hitman was a loss. I feel like it sold well but they probably set absurd expectations so they could have a reason to sell it off along with the devs not being Japanese. They have very prominent developers that gobble up a ton of money and are not generating active cash flow at all times but they're Japanese so it's ok. It's like when you hear a game was a disappointment for selling only 5 million copies, some Hollywood accounting at work.
