I will never pay for a game with uplay. I've played a few games I got for free on there and it's barely functional. On several occasions, I have just not been able to log in and access my stuff. When I contacted support, they told me to end the call and they would email me a fix. They emailed me a forum thread discussing the problem. No way would I drop $60 for a game I can only then hope I am able to play.

It doesn't. Quit fucking complaining.
>>

>>
>>381309035
It is. Denuvo has been shown to lower performance by now, and DRM has never been shown to increase sales, while piracy HAS been shown to.

Not to mention it's still money spent on futile anti-piracy measures instead of improving the goddamn games.
>>
>>381308908

Yea how about you go back there considered I've never touched the place you faggot. If you're not old enough to remember GFWL, and other such anti consumer services, or been here long enough to see all the shit posted about Denuvo's service slowing peoples PC's, causing 4 times as many writes to disk increasing wear on hard discs and SDD's.

The other problem here is that you shouldn't have to sign up for a completely different authentication service like Uplay to play a fucking game when you're buying it and playing it through steam in the first place. It's EXTREMELY INTRUSIVE and Uplay as a service is COMPLETE AND UTTER GARBAGE.

>>381309130
>i'm going to be a faggot because my only retort for damage control was cut off!

Good lord Denuvo's shills really do post here. hey fags, if DRM is so good why do pirates still get free games, why do consumers have to jump through hoops just to play games, and why does the quality of games never increase from you purchasing them since your morals are so good. OH WAIT your piratefag boogyman doesn't effect anything.
>>
>>381309305

>>
>>381309309
DRM you have to spend a premium to encounter.

>>381309359
Beats me. I have no earthly idea why some publishers push it so hard.
>>
>>381309180
>How does piracy affect your gaming experience?
Because games run on a business model that requires money to continue production.

If enough people pirate a game rather than purchase it it can result in

A) Less support for the game mentioned

B) Less possibility for sequels since the game may not sell as well as anticipated

C) Games might not be brought to a certain system (yes I know consoles can pirate games but the vast majority of piracy is done on PC)

You piracy defenders are literally the biggest dunces on this website. Be it that you're actually mentally retarded or you've deluded yourself to the point that you literally don't see how stealing is bad from both a moral and business standpoint.
>>
>>381309386
>causing 4 times as many writes to disk increasing wear on hard discs and SDD's.
This has never really been proven properly, that said with that recent indie game it's been shown quite clearly Denuvo does affect framerates.

>>381309680

It's abhorrent garbage that you need to use a second storefront application to log into the first one you bought the game on directly. Don't defend it you fucking mouth breather if you don't understand that simple concept. Uplay and Steam effectively do the same fucking thing, but uplay has zero traction as ubisoft does not improve their service at all and every single one of their games from uplay is sold on steam which does exactly the same thing, but a million times better. Needing to log in twice effectively from two of the same applications from competing providers is garbage.

Yeah you can tell they liked Hillary more, but they made fun of sjws pretty hard for the last 2 years as well.

the first game is glorious if you enjoy the current tv series
the story is unbelievable, and the lore is evidently ultrahuge
as an rpg, it is hugely unbalanced, so once you find the OP character and the OP attack, it becomes pretty much routine
but once again, it is literally a whole Southpark season, mixed with RPG gameplay, exploration, grinding and looting

There has been literally dozens of new Nvidia drivers, any of which may have a positive (or negative) impact on DOOM’s performance. DOOM itself has also been patched, another factor which may affect performance. To that end, we do not know for sure the results of this benchmark are directly indicative of Denuvo’s performance impact, but they do at least form some sort of guideline.

just ppppure coincidence no one benchmarked that then, or, yet, to this day
>>
>>381316295
You're the one arguing there would be class action lawsuits over reduced performance due to DRM.
>>
>>381315943
You have to be some idiot to "buy blindy" in the current year, because there's info about everything everywhere, you can WAIT to get that info (oh shit I didn't get to play the game day one, it's too irrelevant now to play), if you want you can even get some people to write some angry letters to developers and publishers to get a demo version (but of course why do it if you can just complain about it), user no-spoiler rewievs everywhere. Maybe in 90s I had regrets about getting some game, because all I had is the back of the box of that game and a time limit from my dad to choose the game. Now I have all of the time I need to choose the game, decide if I will play it or not and get good games in the end, bought like 250+ games and never was "oh I wish I didn't buy it"
>>
can we agree that Uplay+Denuvo is the absolute worst combination?
I could maybe stomach Uplay without denuvo since I could crack the game to avoid Uplay.

This has stopped me from purchasing any recent Ubisoft games at all.
>>
>>381316415
well, yeah. the original claim agaisnt denuvo was it was bricking ssd`s, and there WAS an attempt at a class action, it never panned out because the maths involved in the now deleted reddit post youve hilarious all blindly believed indicated it would brick the average ssd of the time in 9 hours....which means, around 9000 owners of lords of the fallen, statistically based on ssd steam ownership, would had this happen to

wanna guess how many steam owners of lords of the fallen have mentioned, shown or complained about this
>>
>>381316481
Funny it's the opposite. I can stand denuvo, but fuck anything with uplay. Denuvo at least has an excuse, uplay has none. All it does is simply create a wall to give up your personal information to ubisoft for marketing purpose.
>Sell game on Steam
>requires you to download third party client to run game that also requires you to create an account with that third party to link to your steam for you to log into
It's as denuvo isn't enough as it does the process uplay does, but automatically and without an account link up.
>>
>>381316481
So without denuvo you purchase the game and crack it? What?
>>
>>381316438
You say that, and yet you commonly get "buyer's remorse threads" on /v/ all the fucking time. For something that's so easy to do, there sure seem to be lots of people who don't seem to manage it.

Even if YOU are such a savvy consumer who never makes mistakes, the public at large constantly does. So yeah, a complete lack of piracy would have a chilling effect on sales of all but the biggest and most generic AAA shit.

I never claimed it bricked SSD's, though. Merely that it impacted performance, like just about any DRM has been more than shown to do. So pretending there'd be a huge uproar over that is pretty goofy.

Also, why do devs bother removing denuvo when it's cracked, if it has no impact?

Why do people keep insisting that denuvo doesn't affect performance?

Why would you ever even think that a virtual machine running on your system on top of your game, running an extra layer(s) of code in between the game's own functions, somehow wouldn't affect performance?

>The pirates just wait to get it later, the consumer is eternally fucked.

>consumers get to play games
>some pirates shell out money and do it

You need to provide the data that the added sales from pirates paying up doesn't equal the development costs of DRM or paying Denuvo a licensing fee.
>>
>>381317824

>>381318030

>>381317998
Considering that Baldman has been able to consistently remove denuvo from releases at a swift pace numerous times over already. I'd really trust the words of that guy much more than some fuckwit on /v/ who somehow thinks that an additional layer of scrips running simultaneously with the game wouldn't actually affect performance somehow. Denuvo isn't magic, it uses resources like anything else.

>Steam DRM

>>
>>381318115
I'm willing to look past the whole "harm the consumer" angle because first we need to establish

>does DRM add sales by making pirates with disposable income pay to play, and is it profitable to do so

once you solve this, you go one step deeper

>does it impact the consumer, and do you lose sales from legitimate customers? Are you still ahead or at a loss

Then ultimately

>how does this DRM scheme impact your optics in the community

In short, pirate fags conveniently ignore #1 because they have been proven wrong, try to argue #2 in common sense but have no data to back it up other than that one time a game didn't have any DRM and still sold well, and #3 we could have a discussion on because both Denuvo and uPlay are like putting your testies in a vice

ah we are on the wrong argument here. just because im arguing denuvo dosent impact performance means im defending denuvo as a whole. it impacts modding, it requries always online, and hell, it might even legitmently impact performance, even if im yet to see any evidence of it.
Id argue it impacts everyone because its negative attention. modders dont want to touch it, less people buy it, the community is smaller, and thats rarely a good thing in any circumstance.
My sole point, and argument here is that literally no one can ACTUALLY prove that denuvo impacts performance, and thats primarily because: it dosent. denouncing it over something that cant be proved and hasnt, instead of the things it CAN be proved it impacts just makes the anti-denuvo crowd look goofy as fuck

i know this might blow that other guys fucking mind, so lets just ignore all that and pretend im a staunch, denuvo employee getting shekels for my shitposting, i guess.

from this "muh piracy doesn't harm anything" bullshit away: Piracy always harms sells.

If you don't put any protection on a game, the game won't get bought, because why should you?
Even if the performance is worse, a protection is necessary.

But after Denuvo gets cracked, the company should remove the protection, because now it is literally just a harming factor for real buyers.

The legit customers have to "suffer", because a lot of customers would have never been customers to begin with, without protection.

And if someone says that The Witcher 3 did well, then you are not completely right. With protection The Witcher 3 would have been a much more financial success. Just look how cheap The Witcher 3 is right now. The main reason is because no one buys the game anymore, only for a huge discount.

But I would say pirates aren't the biggest problem. The biggest problem for the gaming industry is youtube/twitch piracy aka Let's Plays/Playthrough/gameplay. There are only a few online games like Overwatch which profits from those youtube pirates, but offline single player games are losing sales.

Why should you buy a game if you can just get the full experience from youtube, legally? I think developers should enforce their copyright and take every video with their copyright down. All those youtube pirates should pay for the loses they produce. Youtuber like Pewdiepie only got big because people wanted to see the games for free and youtube redirected them to the youtuber. All of those gaming channels are just stealing money from publishers. And the funniest thing is they are literally doing this illegally. The publishers could just take them to court and get rich.

Also publishers could make their own youtube channel with there content. They have the monopoly and 100 % of the clicks for those content.

I love the "MUH FREE PUBLICITY" bullshit. It is the exact OPPOSITE. Youtuber get the views because of the big game brand and not the other way around.

Sure, but I think this is a natural end state of the industry. We see people acting like literal retards over things like loot boxes and CSGO skins.

It's possible in a universe with no piracy at all, we'd have had the same trends present themselves within a similar time frame. Maybe it would have happened a little later, but maybe that would come a generation later at most. Closed platforms, piracy or not, are exceedingly popular, and publishers don't want free mods.
