The Senran Kagura games are pretty solid, with the only thing holding them back from greatness being a need for another element of content (i.e. platforming, Musou-style battles, etc.). I have yet to feel any buyer's remorse over a SK game.

basically all this is why SK on the 3DS is better than the Vita games, on the 3DS, they focus on just the original 10 girls so they have tons more interactions with each other rather than the 20 in SV or 24 in EV

Played for about an hour. Not seeing where the "It's like SK but way better!" comments are coming from. The models are a step up but that seems it so far. Combat seems to more or less have the same flow and doesn't seem any deeper. Still mostly doing basic combo strings into launchers into aerial pursuits and repeating, and even if I wanted to try and get crazy the enemies die too fast. The basic combo strings look pretty limited too, but I'm assuming it's like SK where you unlock more routes as a character levels up.

Genuinely not trying to shit on it even if that sounded negative. I liked SK and this seems decent so far, but unless things open up more I'm not seeing how it's supposed to be way better.

IMO It's way better because
* the combat is improvement over SK. High combos give you higher damage multiplier, so there is incentive to keep your combo higher and play aggresively, in SK you did not have to bother with combos at all. There are actual inputs you have to learn in order to perform some moves, different chains of moves yield different results for different enemy types (in SK you could beat entire game on highest difficulty by just spamming 1 button). Each character plays slightly different, each of the 4 drive levels on each character plays slightly different. You have much more options than in SK, and let's be honest, combat in SK (SV/EV) was mediocre at best so it wasn't that hard to do something much better in VD.
* I've said it before and I'll say it again: quality over quantity. SK has vast cast of characters, but none of those characters gets proper amount of screentime (except Yumi, but fuck her). As such, there are almost no interactions between those characters, no character development, no story development, etc. In VD you get great interactions, the story is fun to watch and read, my only gripe is that sometimes I don't want to spend 15 minutes reading walls of text before 1 minute fight. But overall story is way better than "hurr, let's just fight each other because reasons" from SKSV / SKEV. SKB and SKDC had decent stories and character interactions
* presentation is better - better models, better design, etc.

Tom from XSeed explained the ages bit back when Senran Kagura Burst was being released. In short, it was the localization team that wanted to censor it, not ESRB. They also wanted to make the clothes not rip as much and some other things, but Tom stopped them from censoring the game outside of removing ages.

I already played it on Vita and for anyone that might want to get into it then I'll say the same thing I said when it came out

It's better than Senran gameplay wise, but it's also not as stupid-fanservice and instead it replaces it with yuri, the controls are clunky at first but once getting used to they are pretty fun, the graphics are surprisingly nice and the story although sometimes drags out it's also pretty decent for what it is.

The models are better and prettier than Senran too so if there's a uncensor mod I might replay for that alone. 7/10
