Surely I can't be the only one that thought Gamespy Arcade was comfy as fuck.
I was playing a shit ton of Rainbow Six (the first one) and used arcade to play with others. Made friends, tried to coerce someone in paying me for the subscription plan, and generally had lots of fun. Now that the years have passed I notice I'm not getting the same amount of fun out of Steam (for whatever the comparison is worth).
No player made communities, a simple but effective friend list, somewhat decent lobby for all your games. Where has the time gone.
All I really used gamespy for was the Flintlocke comics.

I used to use it for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault.
Some of the best times I've ever had on a multiplayer FPS.

Arcade though, that was the shit.
It was like what Microsoft Outlook is for office workers today. It opened up into the main web page, showing you what's new. When joining a game room you'd see news for that (patches and whatnot) and meet up with regulars. For its time it was very productive.
