I prefer the original over Crusader just for the atmosphere. Still spent a lot of hours making huge detailed siege maps in Crusader for the unit variety though.

I love the first Crusader since childhood, but I feel like Stronghold is one of the most pathetic game series. The first two game were amazing, but after that for some reason Firefly studio couldn't make not shitty Stronghold game. They made like five continuations after Crusader + the browser game if you want to count that, you would think they would give up with the series for a moment at this point.
