bane stat is that last to be boosted, on the 3rd merge.

So if a unit is +Atk/-Res...
1st merge: +HP, +Atk
2nd merge: +spd, +def

I'm not saure how -HP is handled, considering it's always the first stat to go up. And neutral units from GHB are a coin toss, but it seems like it raises their highest stat. Speed for Ursula, Defense for Zephiel, etc.
