So i got this today and i've been playing it for a while, and it's kinda dissapointing. I really can't get the hang of the controls. Do i need to get used to it or do they just suck?

You have to get used to them. Motion controls were universally described as garbage for Splatoon at one time as well.

Personally I use standard controls.
