On the trilogy version it's no big problem since you can shoot it while in puddle form too.

I think the idea was to use the four pillars to get health drops as efficently as possible.

There wouldn't have been anything wrong if it didn't enter that yellow invincible puddle form. Impossible to get morph boms off without taking a ton of damage yourself, and half the time it goes full retard and loops right back into yellow puddle form.

there's 2 variants of puddle form
one form can be stunned by using bombs
the other form, while it cannot be targeted CAN be hurt by weaponry. Light beam is especially efficient against it.

This was the most intense fight in the entire series.

I'm not surprised that nobody from Retro was even able to defeat it. Shitty playtesters are ubiquitous.

This guy on Trilogy tho. His lasers now hold you in place so you take full damage and free aiming makes it harder to aim around his legs

When you played Echoes, did you play it with the NTSC version, on the Gamecube on Hard mode?

If, for example, you played Trilogy, or the PAL Gamecube version, you were fighting a massively gimped boss.

Perhaps. If you fucked up even a little bit due to the AOE of the shockwave attack you were screwed on higher difficulties.
