no it was normal post production layoffs that most studios do that don't make Activision/Ubi annual cycle money
laid off the redundant employees while the guys in charge planned on what to do next
these studios always quietly hire back many or find other temp employees
especially if they have a big publisher like sony to do most of the hiring

same thing happened with naughty dog, it seemed like everyone left the studio then Uncharted 4 came out a year or so later

Shuhei has already confirmed they are working on a new ip and that it is already playable in some form
