I felt the opposite, I felt robbed. It's rare to find a game that does so little interestingly. The story wasn't immediately compelling, the gameplay was bland as fuck and it was 80% travelling, 15% dialogue and 5% actual fun. Had some neat parts but I think I played about 5 hours before not bothering.

Yea I felt the Main Story to be somewhat bland indeed, not terrible - but not very invigorating. Just too many characters.

I can vouch for the DLC - but eh, sunk cost.

I'm always shocked that this series is so positively regarded. I've tried multiple times to get into the first game, and once each on 2 and 3.

It's just plain bad. The characters aren't interesting or engaging, everyone seems to be a prick and the main character is the most wooden self-insert I've ever experienced, even worse than JC Denton who at least had the odd hilarious "you're gonna burn alright" tier line.

The gameplay goes from unplayable, to dull, to "so mindnumbingly simple even a child could not be entertained".

Given I barely touched the "story", I can't make any grand claims about it, but it seemed very simple, with lots of dumb little moral choices to make that don't really affect anything. This would be fine in a game with a proper alignment system, like Planescape where new options open up for acting like a complete dick to everyone, but the Witcher has his "code" which doesn't actually seem to mean anything as you're capable of breaking it in almost every single mission in some form, and only really serves as an excuse for why you can't just go around killing and robbing everyone on sight.

Then its hard to even consider your comments at all. There is quite a far range of heavy decisions with decent moral thought behind them (Dettlaff, Olgierd).

Witcher '1' doesn't really have the best recommendations for its gamplay. But 2 worked well (moral decisions with Letho) and 3 is full of them.

I unironically love this game for the environments/weather. Seriously, there were so many times I would just get to a higher part of Skellige and just look out over the stormy mountain tops, or be in the middle of the swampy area as the trees/bushes bend with wind, or swim for sunken treasure as the sky turns a mixture of pink and grey.

The game has some serious flaws but goddamn was it beautiful at times. Anyone else feel that way?
