Get good trinkets and quirks, don't be afraid to fire people who aren't good enough. Don't forget to upgrade your weapons, armor, skills.

The difference between running an apprentice dungeon at level 0 vs level 3, if you've upgraded your gear, is +15% hit base, usually another +15% for skill upgrades, and then another +10-30% for trinkets, not even factoring in quirks. It adds up fast.
