Are video games art, /v/?
What is up with those faces?
Smearing shit on the walls can be considered art so yeah.
The question should be "are video games an important and good art form?" in which case, no they are not. Books and movies shit on games in almost every way.

Pretty low tier art you're putting there OP

Anything can be considered art.

Possibly. They combine a lot of art forms to make them and therefore they are art and should be represented under free speech.
Yes but they were commercialized and though of only as a play thing way too early.
>thief 1 and 2
>Silent Hill 1-3
>Metal Gear Solid 3
>Fallout 1 and 2
>shadow of the collosus
I could go on. Video games have shown to be able to be artistic and have surpassed certain instances from other art forms. The problem is they're all being sold, thought as and treated like a toy. Then you got a bunch of shitty indie developers who think they're being artists but they're just making crap.

huh

entertainment
Some are and some aren't in my opinion.
The Witcher series is definitely not art.
no
'art' is something that sends an expression, vision, etc. a game lets you control the result and as such, doesn't perfectly show that expression ergo not art.
artists are faggots, anyway. who wants to be in that crowd?
>>381192694
faggots obviously
>>381192694
Video games let the player control the expression in whatever way the creator allows, which in games that allow the player to kill people or commit evil acts really just provide another avenue for the artist to deliver whatever message they want to deliver by guilt tripping them over what they did. You can write all the "war is hell" books you want but this level of intimacy is really something only video games can pull off.
>>381193969
intimate, for sure. I don't see what that has to do with video games being art, though.
>>381194296
It "sends an the expression" better than when the viewer is just disconnected from whatever moral questions an artist may have otherwise asked through a book or a movie.
>>381179187
I don't care and game devs shouldn't care either.
Games were better when nobody cared about them being art.

Faces are way harder to draw than bodies.
