Platinum did not contribute anything to the core gameplay. They were brought on because the game suffered heavy FPS issues, because Miyamoto was adamant about having the game play on both screens. They did nothing else.
That's also why it has so little content, because the FPS issues stalled development for a long time.

I genuinely enjoyed star fox. Had no issues with the controls. Sticker star was a disappointment as a Paper Mario fan but I still don't hate it. Color splash is an enjoyable game. Brings back actual writing. Just wish there weren't so many damn toads.
